Well I love destiel and I love Greek mythology so…this happened

This is based off the Greek myth of Prometheus. It you don't know who that is, he was the god (Titan if you want to get technical) who gave fire to the humans and got in big doodoo because of it. In my story, Castiel is Prometheus and Dean is just an ordinary human who wants nothing more than to protect his family. First chapter is really more of an intro.

Chapter 1: The Ruin of the Human Race.

The sun was setting over the rounded horizon of the earth, bathing the heavens in a molten glow, when Castiel found himself with a moment to spare. He wandered to the golden gates of Olympus and gazed down through the clouds. He wasn't really looking for anything in particular. Later, he wouldn't be able to explain what it was that compelled him to leave, only that the urge to look down on the human world was overpowering. It almost felt like fate, but that didn't seem very likely to him. Being a god, he was a director of fate, not one to be directed by it. Regardless, he passed the golden gates and continued on.

He froze the moment he emerged from the clouds, too shocked to move.

Humans, who had once roamed the land in burgeoning numbers, who were more intelligent than all the other beasts of the earth, who had souls more precious than any other beast that had come before-humans, the entire species was in ruin. They lived in caves and holes in the ground, froze to death at night, starved and died from diseases that could be cured. And worst of all, where they had once been promising hunters with the potential to rule their world, they were being preyed upon and hunted themselves.

It took a few moments for Castiel to recognize the predator responsible for the desolation. They were twisted, ancient creatures known as the Leviathans and their all-consuming hunger preceded them.

"Castiel," came a voice from behind him, making him jump.

"Uriel," Castiel greeted back. "Why…How could this have happened?"

"I assume you are speaking of the humans," he said, casting a bored look over the mortal world.

"Did you know this was happening?"

"I did."

"How could it have happened? I looked away for only a couple millennia."

Uriel sighed. "You know this is the way of the world, brother. Species rise and species fall. It's the natural order of things."

"They have much potential," he insisted.

"They had much potential," corrected Uriel. "And now they have reached that potential."

"There must be something we can do."

"Castiel," he cautioned. "You are displaying emotions. It is unbecoming."

Castiel turned away. "My apologies, brother. Perhaps…I desire to visit the mortal world for a short time."

"Perhaps that would be best. As long as you leave these emotions behind when you return," Uriel answered, looking at his brother like emotions were contagious.

"Good. Good. I will return soon. Could you tell Zachariah where I will be?"

"Yes, I will let him know." Uriel was still keeping his distance.

"Thank you, Uriel, and goodbye." With that Castiel was off, descending from the great mountain. He wasn't planning on a prolonged visit. He only wanted to see the humans before they came to an end. Little did he know, it was only the beginning.

Alright, so that didn't have much story yet, but I just wanted to write it and toss it out there. This idea has been poking me for a while. I would love to know if you are interested in the idea and if you want me to continue. Also I love comments. Yup love 'em, but yeah I get that there isn't really anything to comment on yet.
