Taps and Tinks
by cess525 (B:D)
I found this while digging through my computer for Ship day over at GW. I had totally forgotten about it since I went vacation and had Melissa post it on Ship Day 2 years ago. Its PG and thanks to my awesome Beta Wendy for betaing this eons ago.
Tap. Tap. Tink. Tink. Tap.
Daniel had counted 42 "taps" and 25 "tinks" within the last minute and it was driving him up a wall. The cause was sitting across from him and had been so for the past 32 minutes. It was enough to drive Daniel insane.
Though he didn't know what was worse; the tapping or the fidgeting. While the tapping to the unknown beat in his friend's head was annoying, at least he knew that his friend was not picking up his things and fiddling with them.
"Jack!" Daniel abruptly shouted, as his proverbial piece of spaghetti snapped. Jack looked up with an almost clueless expression on his face, showing nothing but innocence. Daniel pointed to Jack's hand that was currently busy with the tapping and immediately Jack had the decency to look guilty and held his hands up in defeat; Daniel relaxed and looked back down at his scroll with renewed interest. Daniel couldn't work for long though, Jack was too quiet, looking up from the scroll he saw his friend fidgeting with something in his hand.
"Jack!" Daniel called to Jack with a hint of humor in his voice.
"What?" Jack asked, this time with a bit of frustration, he was doing nothing wrong, in fact he was being quiet.
"Most people wear them." Daniel said with a smirk, pointing towards the object in Jack's hand. Jack looked down at the object and then back at Daniel. "At least I am pretty sure that's why she gave it to you." Daniel added.
"Smart a$$." Jack said in a light humored grumble, putting the ring back on his left hand ring finger.
"You ready to go?" a voice called from the hallway. Daniel didn't even need to look towards the door to know who it was; the look on Jack's face said it all, Sam was finally here.
"Yeah sure Ya Betcha." Jack said with a spring in his step as he walked towards his wife.
