Chapter 1: Prologue

Hey guys! Sorry for not being around lately. I know that I should be updating The Cullen's and A Book, but I've been busy with school, and moving that I just lost my inspiration for that story at the moment. &&& Steroline has been giving me so many feels, that I just couldn't help start this.

Anyways, enough of my rambling, here's the summary:

As summer draws to a close, Caroline becomes increasingly worried about Bonnie, whom she hasn't heard from all summer. Intent on figuring out what's wrong with Bonnie, Caroline visits Stefan, only to be shocked by his odd behavior. Frightened by both oddities, Caroline sets out to figure out what the hell is going on in Mystic Falls now. (Set at the end of Season Four w/ Spoilers)

Lastly, sorry guys for the ooc- ness. This is my first TVD story, so I've never written Caroline or Stefan before. So if anything seems a little off about them, please tell me, I appreciate advice.

***Update*** I edited this and fixed some of the errors I found so feel free to read again.

Not Just Another Tuesday

"Hey it's Bonnie. Sorry I can't answer right now-" Huffing, as she sat impatiently, tapping her fingernails against the table, Caroline Forbes closed her phone, the worry on her face evident. Glancing up, she glanced at Stefan as he sat across from her, indifferent as ever, simply staring at her as she grew even more worried.

'Is it Tuesday?' Stefan would have asked as the frown lines on her face increased if he wasn't acting so odd. Caroline couldn't place it, but Stefan just wasn't the same anymore. Sure he looked the same, talked the same –albeit not very much- but there was a part of him, intimately Stefan, which was missing. Frowning even more, Caroline shook her head as she caught the voice of the two love birds outside who were the oblivious to Stefan's lack of normalness.

"What's wrong?" Stefan asked in a semi-curious, semi-bored voice that freaked Caroline out. Clearing her voice, Caroline returned to the reason behind her other growing worry, Bonnie.

"I haven't heard from Bonnie all summer. I know she went to spend time with her mother, but she hasn't text me, or returned any of my calls. She's never just stopped talking to me, not even when we were 12, and I kissed the boy she liked. I mean, of course you remember when I first turned, she was freaked out, and didn't speak to me for a while, but it was no more than a week or two. Why won't she answer me? Do you think something's wrong?"

Stefan sighed loudly, and stood up to pour himself another drink. "I don't think so. You should just let it go; maybe she doesn't want to be friends with you anymore. Just stop calling her every five minutes." He said shortly, causing Caroline to freeze up.

As panic began to set in her bones, Caroline stood stiffly. Setting his drink down calmly, Stefan looked up at Caroline. "I'm sorry. Feel free to continue calling, maybe she'll actually answer." He said, face blank, no remorse in it. He spoke in a voice meant to sound sorry, but laced with sarcasm.

Feeling her anger rise, Caroline snatched her phone, and headed for the door. "Seriously Caroline leave her alone-"

"Shut up Stefan! What the hell is your problem? Is losing Elena that big of a deal? You should be thankful to be rid of her! Is this because you've been drinking human blood?" she started, he voice lowering as she thought of him spiraling out of control.

"And if I am Caroline? What are you gonna do? You're a newbie; you can't help me, no one can!" Growling quietly Caroline, turned away, and walked out the door.

Swallowing the lump in her throat, Caroline drove her car off, determined. She promised herself that she would get Bonnie to speak to her, and help Stefan get control of not only him bloodlust, but his life.
