Disclaimer: I do not own Glee or its characters. FYI, this is actually what was in the box.

"What's this?" Kurt asks excitedly, eying the light burgundy box, surprise and warmth filling his chest.

Oh my god, it's a Cartier ring box. A Cartier ring box! Oh my god, oh my god. He got me a ring! From CARTIER! Oh my god! I love this boy! I love him, I love him! Oh my GOD!

He somehow manages to keep calm and train his expression, though he knows his eyes are probably as round and crazy looking as those doilies his neighbors insist on using when they break out aperitifs at their biannual Hedge Connection dinner parties.

Blaine, dapper as usual, just shrugs a shoulder in that bashful way that has Kurt's eyes glazing over. "Just a little something special for my someone special."

The smile Blaine flashes could light up West Lima.

Kurt bites his lip, holding back a smile of his own. He knows that if he lets it loose, it would look nothing short of goofy next to Blaine's cancer-curing grin.

He turns his attention to the box that Blaine had handed him, fingers shaking slightly as he flips it open, already rehearsing possible responses in his head to Blaine's surely stunning, most likely expensive present. (Come on, the guy wears Ted Baker casually.)

Oh, Blaine, you shouldn't have! Oh, but I didn't get you anything half so wonderful! Oh, I love it! I will wear it every day, even when I go to sleep! My, but how did you even know my ring size? Of course I'll move to New York and marry you!

But when Kurt looks in the box, the thing that he finds there isn't the least bit shiny. Sure, it looks like a ring, but it appears to be made out of some sort of folded paper. He is immediately confused.

What is this, origami? Wait, is that? Is that gum wrapper?

He turns his gaze to Blaine, who still has that ridiculous grin plastered on his face, though after he meets Kurt's stare, the smile seems to wilt a little at the corners.

"So…" Blaine says, unsure. He looks to be searching for words, or perhaps some song lyrics.

Kurt blinks at him. "What," he says, "is this."

A/N: It was a ring made out of gum wrappers. N'aww.
