Hey. I have no idea how you managed to find this story, this excercise in character.
Sorry, if you find it confusing. Try though - I'll explain at the bottom.
I would highly suggest the song "Elevator Love Letter" by Stars. It's what I was listening to at the time.

as always, I own nothing.

So she appears, softer and more elegant than ever imagined.

Yet she had been imagined, so many times, until the lines of her face blurred into a sort of ethereal creature, a goddess forever doomed to walk this earth.

Forever.

He would never know the meaning of the term. He thinks he understands, protests that he will live a long time too, longer than natural. But not forever, never forever. Not like him, and now her.

He smiles, but it's not the smile she knew and loved, for so long. Harsh, bitter, irony personified; it transforms his features. A reel of images flashes through his mind like a long forgotten film played out of order under a flickering fluorescent bulb.

A life together, children, the whole package. Love. Naivety, a crucial moment on a beach, conspiring smiles. Her, ripped open by lingering ghosts, powerless to help. Helplessness.

Watching as she grew, laughed. Yet another turn of events in a series of coincidences - or fate. Forbidden, tree climbing, heartbreak as she turned away, confused and upset. Taunting, whispers of fate in wind buffeted tents. Hiding behind a mask. Fighting for her, for everything.

Losing.

The sound of piano awakes him from his daze, plunging him into the equally painful reality. His eyes darken, and a throbbing ache ails his abdomen. Before him through the leaves and miscellaneous foliage, she smiles so radiantly he is blinded. And he smiles back, love lighting his face.

It's all wrong.

The clips move faster, speeding up, rushing towards the end. Dreams of alters and happiness, being that man. Diving off cliffs, mad with panic. Shy glances. Sitting in the Rabbit, talking and teasing. Running.

The endless parade shudders, the pictures faulting like an old record. Flicking on and off, before freezing. His cold lips, pressed to her throat. A single drop of blood running down the pearly white skin.

A scream breaks through. His or hers? He doesn't know anymore. In the clearing, the crowd pauses, unsure. It's a happy event, a wedding of bliss and beauty. Such a sound has no place there.

He turns away, nature succumbing to the force of his retreat – leaving a wake of snapped wood and unintentional destruction. His face, previously thawed, settles back into the sneering mask of distrusting indifference.

Sam's Jacob, she once called it. His features contort, explode. No, not her, never her. Not ever again.

She's gone, and so is he; a flash of russet fur among the dense greenery.

So I know that a lot of people hate Jacob out there. I don't. So while I hope you understood what I was implying, this is set at the wedding of Edward and Bella. It is in a meadow or field of some sort, not their meadow though. Jacob is watching from the forest.

Now, the concept I just explained isn't mine either. But unfortunately I forget whose it was, all I know is that it was in narrative format and was for some competition or another. If you know it - give me a shout. I thank it for the inspiration.

Remember people, reviews are WONDERFUL. They make my day. And listen to Stars. They will make yours.
