She adjusted her periwinkle-blue dress over her shoulders, allowing her sleek, curled hair to fan over her shoulders. She took a deep shaky breath as she prepared to turn the corner. She just hoped that he would notice her, but not in the way he usually did. She wanted him to see her differently; the way she looked now. She turned. and slowly began descending the stairs to the entrance hall. Every head in the room turned to look at her, including Ron, who's face held an expression of hilarious confusion. She recognised almost every face that stared at her; Parvati, Cedric, Fleur, Harry, Cho, but she couldn't see him. Her heart sank in her chest, and she resisted the urge to duck her head in shame. Serve her right for thinking he'd be here; thinking he cared enough. She took in a deep breath as she descended to the bottom step. Another boy was waiting, who took her arm and gently lead her to the line, waiting to enter the hall. He was the boy all the girls wanted. Except from her.
He tightened his tie, staring at his reflection in the mirror. He took a deep breath as he considered the way she would look in her dress robes. He sighed. The girl who wanted him would not let up with her obsession, yet he had made the completely wrong impression with the girl he truly wanted. He had ran through their first meeting in his head a thousand times, and every time he had wished that it was different. That he had not parroted his fathers views, like a puppet. He used a hand to pat down stray hairs, as he used the other one to open the dormitory door. It was time to go.
He had just reached the top of the stairs when he saw her, holding the arm of the burly Durmstrang Champion, Viktor Krum. His breath caught in his throat, and his heart throbbed painfully against his chest. He knew she claimed to have a date, but he had imagined it was Weasley or Potter, someone he could at least compete with. But Viktor Krum was way out of his league. But not hers. She deserved someone who could take care of her and protect her, instead of leading her into trouble. He ducked his head, and turned to walk back up the stairs, the way he had came. This was no place for him.
She turned once more to look at Ron's painfully irritated expression, but someone caught her attention. A fair haired boy, in dark dress robes, standing at the top of the stairs. Her mouth fell slightly open. He was here. Without a second thought, she slid her arm out of Viktor's and strode to the stairs. Viktor looked shocked, but soon a throng of girls clambered over to him, begging to be his yule ball date.
She giggled, an unusal sound for her, but it was pleasing to the ear. He turned to see her, holding up the bottom of her dress, whilst she ascended the stairs. When she had reached the top, he took her hand in his. Her touch sent tingles through his skin.
His grey eyes stared intently into hers, with a slow burning intensity. She couldn't help it. She stretched onto her toes, eyes closed, until her lips met his. They broke apart, and her cheeks turned a beautiful shade of pink. Every eye in the room was now on them, but the only one's that mattered to him were her brown one's. She was the only thing that mattered to him.
