When Katherine Beckett- Castle gave birth to her and Rick's daughter at his insistence Kate finally took a desk job "permanently", telling her"I want to grow old with you Kate..." So Kate took the Captains exam.

Kate herself was not happy about it at first but she had more then earned it

Their daughter Annmarie had decided to go into the family business and follow in her mother's footsteps, without telling her mother, she submitted her name to the police academy, under her grandfathers name "Hunt" a name she knew know one would know well no one except her mother, her father, grandmother, and big sister Alexis. She couldn't hide it from Kate forever but she wanted to get in on her own that was six months ago.

Becoming a profiler was the smartest decision Richard Castle ever made, he was now attached to the NYPD, not that he gave up on being a writer far from it but he needed a new reason to be at the 12th after he got the girl.

The year is 2033 everyone had gathered at Madison Square Garden to watch the graduation of the NYPD Police Academy. Annmarie Castle waited nervously as her father Rick helped her get ready, her older sister Alexis was there checking to make sure that her badge was straight and she was cleaned and pressed. Pleadingly Annmarie looked at her father asking "Have you seen mom... she said she would be here... I haven't seen her since last night..."

"No... I haven't seen her sweetheart..." He said softly, but Richard Castle had a secret, her mother was in the building and would be the one presenting Annmarie with her badge later on in the ceremony.

The ceremony had finally come to the point when the rolls of cadets were to be called up and pinned and Annmarie Castle's name was next on the list when the man standing at the podium suddenly stopped and said, "Before we call the next cadet up... I would like to call Captain Katherine Beckett- Castle to the podium"

Captain Katherine Beckett-Castle of the NYPD, was invited by the Commissioner to her daughters graduation from the same Academy she went through 40 years ago, to pin her youngest daughter

Annmarie looked from the stage to her father and back again. The Man said "Here to present Cadet Castle here first shield is Captain Katherine Beckett-Castle.

"Cadet Castle will be a second generation NYPD Police Officer" The Commissioner states

"Your out of uniform cadet..." Katherine stated, "That tag says Hunt"

Annmarie walked onstage toward her mother bewildered and staring at her mother.

Shaking her head Katherine, says, "When the commander of the Academy starts bragging about one Annmarie Hunt..."

Straining to hold back tears as she made her way on stage and her waiting mother was standing there badge in hand ready to pin it on her daughter. Captain Beckett told Annmarie "I was willing to give you my badge..."

That confession from her mother almost reduced Annmarie to tears asking "Mom...!"

Pinning her daughter Annmarie with her first NYPD badge Katherine said, "Did you really think I would not figure it out"

In a soft voice Annmarie said, "I wanting to earn it mom"

"You did" Katherine exclaimed as she and patrolmen Castle walked off the stage.

Three hours later, the old loft apartment was decked out to the nines thanks to Alexis and Martha although Alexis did most of it as Martha was 91.

Martha Rogers, Annmarie grandmother was siting on the sofa next to Annmarie herself filling her in on some "Family Secrets." Annmarie blurted out , "Dad did it really take you and mom 4 years...?"

Slipping his arm, round Kates waist Castle said, "Your mother was playing hard to get"

"Uh Huh" Alexis muttered "Dad you were a five year old trapped in a 38 year old body when you met mom..."

Kate couldn't help but laugh at Alexis description of her father back then, but Alexis calling her mom made her heart melt

Even Martha smiled at the comment stating, "Somehow the two of you made sense..."

"of course that was after mom arrested dad " Said Alexis

Annmarie looked at her parents stating, "Apparently there was some editing done when it came to bedtime stories!"

"Well maybe a little" Rick said
