Danny Boy

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling

From glen to glen, and down the mountain side

The summer's gone, and all the roses falling

'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.

You had to go, I knew that…But that didn't mean I wanted you to leave. Even with such desperate tears in my eyes you still stood firm in your belief that in protecting this country, you would be protecting me. That's what scared me the most, how you would be willing to die in a pointless war, all so I would stay alive. Don't you know that if you were gone I would die without you? You know how weak I am, but I guess I became strong enough to be on my own. I sat there and let you go though, because this was important to you. Because I love you…with all my heart.

But come ye back when summer's in the meadow

Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow

'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow

Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

You should know I will always be here. I always have and I doubt I will soon leave this place. I'll be waiting for you to come back. I won't go when it gets too cold and snow is everywhere. I won't go when it gets too hot. I'll wait for you, I'll stay and wait no matter how bad things get.

And if you come, when all the flowers are dying

And I am dead, as dead I well may be

You'll come and find the place where I am lying

And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.

If…no…When you come back I will be here. More than likely I will have died. You know how weak I am…I will be buried there. You should know what my headstone would say already…I want to go to my grave, no matter how hard it is for you. And I want you to sing for me. I want you to sing for me even if people watch. I heard you once and it was beautiful.

And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me

And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be

If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me

I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

I know I'll hear you, I will be there when you sing it to me. I'll feel your footsteps above me and I will finally rest softly while I wait for you to join me. When you tell me you love me, my heart, though dead, will race, and I will sleep, so when I wake once more I will be in your arms, as it should be forever. But I will wait for you to be with me.

I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

I will wait.
