(A/N) Wow, another one-shot. Geez, I must be crazy. Anyway, it's my first song fic: Dear My Closest Friend by Flyleaf. It's an amazing song and when I first heard it my mind was screaming "ASH AND MARE! ASH AND MARE!" Haha, well enjoy.
p.s. I'll bet you'll never guess what I was listening to while writing this ;)
Dear My Closest Friend
Dear my closest friend, I'm writing because I miss you so much.
Mary-Lynnette scribbled messily across the sheet of loose leaf paper. Only two weeks after Ash's departure, and here she was, withered and broken. Writing letters to him, no less.
At night I'd always cry. The stillness still reminds me of when we first fell in love, and I miss that so much.
Not-so-silent tears leaked heavily from her red eyes, as she poured her heart and soul out. Now, Mary-Lynnette certainly wasn't the kind of girl to sit and sob upon her bed, but Ash had driven her to it. Ash, her first love, and destined to be her only.
Dear my closest friend, I remember when you asked me to stay, and I just walked away. I apologize. And though my letters send, I lost that moment.
And that must've been the biggest mistake she had ever made. Making him leave. Her chance was long gone now, blown away with his leaving. Never was, never will be, she thought bitterly. Because Ash was simply perfect, whereas Mary-Lynnette was just another helpless, heartbroken little girl. But, as much as it puzzled her, he had loved her once. So she kept writing.
Seconds at a time, I wait for your answer, but I already know.
She choked out a single sob.
Your hand was always mine.
She had completely lost herself, she found. Her heart lay cradled in his hands somewhere, wounded and bleeding. So she sat, chest empty and yearning.
He was all around her, yet no where reachable. Unattainable.
Eventually, she sealed her anguish filled letter, the first of many never to be sent.
Dear my closest friend, I'm writing because I miss you so much.
