there was no way. no way at all that this could possibly be true.

if it were, in fact, even remotely close to being true, cloud was sure he would have at least some knowledge of it.

though... knowing zack, he probably wouldnt.

that was rather frustrating, considering that the strife boy didnt want there to be rumors about him. at least... not rumors like these.

after trying so hard to explain to his oh-so loud-mouthed best friend, yuffie, that he was no way, shape or form, gay for zack fair... cloud knew that it was a failing attempt at redeeming his former reputation as the so serious, handsome, and completely unattached cloud strife...

now, he would most likely be branded as 'cloud strife: the one who won't admit that he is actually bent for his best friend (and has been for may many years now)'

that was just plain peachy.

way to start a brand new week.

"if you just tell me that you are gay, then i will leave the subject alone for the rest of my life." yuffie said to him, trying to keep up with cloud while they walked in the park on the way to aerith's.

cloud scoffed, clenched his jaw, and said "not interested."

"but it's not like anyone will judge you, cloud!" yuffie whined. "if anything, i'm sure your mother will be enthused that you've actually found someone older than you and capable of taking care of-"

"we are done with this obsession." cloud interrupted, "you might have this deranged fantasy that i am having a secret homosexual relationship with my best friend, but it's so far from true that it's just not..."

cloud didnt know how to end that sentence, even after he'd said it to himself before actually interrupting his wutaian friend.

yuffie tilted her head to the side slightly. her eyes were filled with the same sort of curiousity and mischief that shook cloud to his very core. if anything, he had just made the situation worse... and the label was slowly being super-glued to his forehead for all of midgar to witness.

"i think you need to just get this off your chest before it becomes something that eats you alive at night. we all know what you think of him, cloud. no one would stare at their best friend the way you stare at zack if there wasnt the slightest bit of attraction there."

"so i look him in the eye when he talks." cloud said loudly, "is that bad that maybe i actually am interested in what he talks about?"

yuffie smirked devilishly, "you're gay~."

"I AM NOT GAY!"

"okay, then, bisexual." yuffie sang.

"no. just... no."

it went on for hours on end much to cloud's misfortune.

he was tempted to just give up and tell yuffie what she wanted to hear all along.

'yuffie- you're right. i am so gay for zack fair that i can't see at night. i want him all over the place- back and forth, up and down, and then some. i want to be his one and only. me love long time.'

but.

that wasn't the smartest thought.

he was pretty sure that maybe even aerith would accuse cloud of being gay.

she was always trying to play the matchmaker. amoung everything else she so aspired to do to people.

by the time he went toz aerith's house with yuffie, he got bored, and then left: cloud trudged reluctantly to the one apartment he probably shouldnt be spotted around at that point in he needed to vent before he exploded from sheer agony and frustration.

so... when zack opened the door and spotted his blonde-haired best friend, he smiled, grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him inside without even closing it. (the door)

cloud couldnt say he was caught off guard. he was used to this.

"about time you got here, chocobo." he said in his usual smooth, caramel voice.

cloud rolled his eyes and grinned.

zack wasnt his boyfriend... but thinking about it- cloud guessed...

"he might as well be."
