Even in Death
Give me a reason to believe that
you're gone
I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong
Moonlight on the soft brown earth
It leads me to where you lay
A pale figure walked among the slabs of rocks, covered in darkness. The moonlight pooled around his edges not actually touching him. For the past year, everything happy and good stayed away from him, even the light. His feet followed the moonlight-covered path to his destination. He walked that very path at least once a night even when moonless; he need not look where he was going.
They took you away from me
But now I'm taking you home
He had become a recluse, a misanthrope. A hatred for his old Headmaster ran deep. The damned man that caused his love to die. He and the whole wizarding world were to blame. Not everything rested upon his late partners shoulders, so why did they choose to act as if it had? The boy shook his head. His delusions and yearning had consumed him. He could no longer live without the boy he so craved.
I will stay forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
He gazed down at the tombstone in front of him, falling to his knees before it. Shimmering tears fell upon the ground, unnoticed. He murmured the same words he did every night since the day he lost his heart. Words of despair, forgiveness for himself, forgiveness for his lover, damnation, and anything else he could think of. He soon fell silent, his eyes closing, remembering a time long ago, where the two were happy and carefree. He remembered the little things; the little notes they would give to one another, the things they would say, the way flowers and chocolates would be on their desks the day after an argument to as a sign of forgiveness.
Some say I'm crazy for my love,
Oh my love
But no bonds can hold me from your side,
Oh, my love
They don't know you can't leave me
They don't hear you singing to me
Troubled eyes slid painfully open. Grinning, the delusions set back in after the nostalgia had broken. He crawled over the block of stone and traced the words etched into it, caressing the etchings as if this act alone would make the boy rise from the ground. His empty eyes slid shut, as he tried to concentrate on his breathing. He found as time went on, the ache in his heart grew.
And I can't love you, anymore than I do
The frail boy shook, overcome by tears, hysterics setting in again. He took his wand out and pointed it where his broken heart lay. He kissed the grave marker and gave a remorseful smile. "I love you," he whispered before finally muttering the fatal Killing Curse, and falling limply onto the grave of his one and only, finally in peace.
