Darkness

It was dark, sweat began to trickle down to his brow as he tried to remain still and quiet. He swallowed hard when an unwelcome fear started to creep over him and he thought about how he got in this situation in the first place.

It was suppose to be a simple thing he was going to do and now… now he wasn't sure if he would survive the day. He decided to close his eyes, hoping that he could concentrate better, but it wasn't helping. So, he decided to take a deep cleansing breath, but that made things more difficult for him.

"John? Are you not feeling well?"

With the sound of her voice his eyes sprung open wide. He wasn't sure what to say, but if he didn't answer soon, she would know that something was wrong.

"N..no. I'm fine. Why?"

He wanted so much to kick himself for stuttering.

"It is that you seem extremely tense. Are you sure that me being here is not ruining things?"

"NO!" he said a little too loudly. "No. You're fine right where you are."

He was lying. He was in pure agony, but he couldn't let her know especially since it was his idea in the first place.

"Ok, as long as you are fine with it. I am sure that this will be over soon."

At that very moment he felt a wave of regret come over him. Regret for wanting this to all end. The regret that he wasn't taking the time to enjoy what was happening. He took another deep breath and this time drank in the fragrance the he so enjoyed.

He took in and observed the little sounds and small movements, and he let his eyes adjust to the darkness so he can observe her beauty. She was so close to him, but while he was busy stressing about his predicament, he had missed it. He couldn't help but to feel foolish and a bit childish about his behavior.

She moved to get more comfortable and as she did she ended pressed up against him. The moving, the rubbing, her scent was driving him mad and he couldn't take it anymore! Without another rational thought coming to his mind, he lunged forward and kissed her with all the passion he had.

He feared that he would get a negative response, but there was only a positive one. He wished he had thought of it sooner, but his stupid fear got in the way. He had longed for this moment for such a long time and now it was finally here. A moment that would last….

Briefly.

The closet door flung open, they quickly composed themselves and smiled at the little boy that stood there, beaming with glee.

"I found you, mommy and John," Torren squealed. "That was a great hiding place. It took me forever to find you."

Teyla and John gave each other a mischievous smile and nodded their heads in agreement. John then continued by ruffling Torren's hair and thought to himself, "If he only knew how great it really was."

The End
