Guy's quiet afternoon thoughts
The heat of the fire danced on Guy's face as he sat in a arm chair by the grate. The winter cold was bitter outside but Guy couldn't have been any warmer where he was. All alone again he didn't have anything in particular on his mind, except of course the ever-present passion in his life, Marian. His mind was the only safe place he could admit that he did truly love her, but he hoped sincerely that he had made it more than obvious to her.
He could hear the Sheriff shouting at a guard down the corridor. With lack of anything better to do, he listened in.
"That's final! You're fired!" Vasey screeched.
"But M'Lord, Please, I need this job. I have two children, one on the way and…" The guard tried to reply
"I don't care!" The Sheriff spat.
Guy was brought back to himself once again. He supposed he felt sorry for the guard, but there was no way he was going to get on Vasey's bad side today, not after Hood had made a fool of him yet again earlier that day in front of the whole of Nottingham.
Guy sipped on the wine in his hand. Still, he thought disappointedly, that guard was a good one and it would be a shame to see him leave. And he had two children to support.
Children. Guy had often thought about his own off spring, if he were ever to have any. He had always considered that children may just be an unwanted hassle, but as he'd got older, around mid-twenties to be precise, he had started to imagine himself as a proper father. He longed to have another human to protect, and to provide for.
Marian had always been the woman he had pictured himself having children with, well at least ever since he had known her. Any other lady just wouldn't be the same. He felt that his love for her would produce amazing children, creatures of love and spirit and everything that his passion for Marian was made form. He would have to woo Marian into marriage, before they even considered children, and that wasn't proving to be very easy at all. After all, last time they had attempted she had jilted him, he still had the mark above his left eye to prove it. But he hadn't given up on her. She will be the next lady Gisbourne, he thought.
He imagined Marian impregnated with his child. She would be large but even more beautiful then ever, and he knew that she would love the baby. She would be the perfect mother.
He imagined a girl, his and Marian's daughter, with long, brown hair like Marian's and eyes like hers too. He imagined his daughter fairly tall, as he was, and his own ambitious and loyal qualities, teamed with Marian's bravery and trust. Their daughter would surely be as quick-witted as they both were.
Would she have a beautiful singing voice to match Marian's or would she be a good fighter like Guy was? So much to imagine as he sat in the armchair, drinking his wine, had Guy. His smile was wide and his head filled with happy thoughts.
Just then, Marian entered the room.
"Guy" She said, seeming a little shocked. "Guy, are you drunk?"
Guy laughed fondly at her presumptuous nature.
"I am not, Marian, why do you ask? He beamed, still picturing her as a mother.
"Because" She replied, starting to smile too now "You are holding a glass of red wine and grinning a lot"
Guy's smile remained, but it was suddenly meaningful and his eyes filled with passion. He got up from the chair, laid his drink aside and took Marian's hand gently.
"It's because you're so beautiful" He whispered passionately.
She giggled and placed her other hand on his chest. "and you…" The Sheriff's angry shout for Gisbourne was timed perfectly "Have work to do."
He softly let go of her hand, glanced straight into her beautiful eyes and left the room, still smiling.
