Yola everyone. This is my new fandom obsession :O haha so this has been floating in my mind after a magical trip to tumblr.
Spencer could hear Melissa breathing softly as she slept in the bed next to me. She felt around in the dark and was careful not to knock over anything that might god-forbid wake the sleeping princess. Finally she felt the cool, hard, smooth back edge of her switchblade. It helped to have secret friends in all the wrong places to get you these things. Slowly, she drew out the blade and smiled to herself as it glinted in the savored a moment before remembering why she was doing this.
Spencer sat on the couch waiting for her parents to arrive home. They finally walked through the door.
'Hi sweetie, how was you're night?' Veronica asked as if she had forgotten.
'I went out with some friends.'
'Oh, we went out to dinner in Philly with Melissa, she's a little shaken up over the whole Garrett thing so she's getting some clothes from her apartment and she's going to spend the weekend here.'
Oh.
Great.
'Okay well I'm going to bed, night'
Spencer walked up the stairs stomping slightly.
'Did we forget something?' Veronica asked turning to Peter.
'I couldn't imagine what' Peter replied.
What Peter and Veronica had failed to remember was sitting right in front of them on the counter, on an invite that they had barely glanced at.
You are cordially invited to the celebratory dinner of the 2012 valedictorian Spencer Hastings. October 10, 2012. 6:30 PM at Galileo's in Philadelphia.
That was why. It never even crossed her parents mind to even congratulate her on valedictorian. They probably still didn't know. This was most definitely not the first time her parents had forgotten about her. All the more reason. They would never notice. They never did.
She tediously switched the blade to attention, like her little soldier. Her little weakness. Getting a towel from the bathroom quickly she returned to her bed and spread the towel out under her. As she began to make small lacerations across her wrist, she welcomed the familiar oozing feeling of the blood dripping out of her wrists. Suddenly she hit fresh skin. Skin she hadn't scarred previously. And it hurt like hell, but Spencer, like a true Hastings, pushed on. The tears were begging to fall down her face.
Spencer decided a long time ago that she was never ever going to cry ever(she had been 7 at the time). The only time since then was when they found Ali's body. But even then it wasn't much crying. She had been mentally preparing for the entire year before they found Ali's body.
This was her weakness. Spencer couldn't have two. That was two too many. So she chose the one she favored. Cutting. As her arm seemed to be a sea of red from all the new cuts, she moved down to her legs. Slowly she drug the blade in a circle around her ankle. As she waited for the blood to appear she investigated her previous scars, a sock of the sorts. These circular scars went right up to mid calf, right below where her field hockey socks ended. Spencer was shocked out of her short entrancement when the blood from her fresh cut went rolling down her foot. She smiled at her accomplishments. Spencer scoffed at herself, she had so many accomplishments to be proud yet this is what she chose to actually crack a smile at.
So this IS going to continue eventually, there probably will be some Toby finding out (; I probably won't update for a while though, I'm going in for spinal X-rays and such so I'll be busy! BUT I WILL UPDATE!Until then, happy Halloween special!
