Disclaimer: I don't own Chrono Trigger.
The battles had been long, oh so long, and Tata was tired, oh so tired. Sure, he had good weaponry, and had been taught by the knights, but he was still just a kid. A kid for gods sakes. Sighing, Tata pushed the thought to the back of his mind. He had but one more battle to face, and then he was done. Walking into the chamber, he gathered up his wits, and yelled in the mightiest voice he could muster:
"Magus!"
Which wasn't really that mighty, as his voice had cracked, and he had stuttered a bit. The fact that - if Magus' statues were any indication - he was half as tall as the man didn't help either. Of course, Tata thought that, since he defeated all those monsters, Magus himself wouldn't be as tough. He also thought that he would be fighting Magus in this very room. He was wrong on both accounts. As his eyes adjusted to the dim lighting of the chamber, he caught sight of the person on the throne. A young man, with red spiky hair - he thought he'd seen the man before. He sat sideways, his back to a young woman with a reddish-blonde ponytail, who was giving him a massage. In front of his feet was an oddly dressed purple-haired woman with thick glasses, who was polishing a strange, vaguely L-shaped object, which he assumed was a weapon.
"You're a little late for him, brat." So spoke the red-haired man. "Magus is already dead, and I'm the new king around here."
With a snap of his fingers, the purple-haired woman pointed her weapon at him and then - thwack! Something hit him in the face almost instantly, knocking him backwards. Then the red haired man stood up, laughing, and raised his hands. A bolt of lightning fell from the heavens ,striking Tata and painfully reducing him to a twitching mess.
"W-why mister Crono…"
Tata asked weakly, finally remembering the man's name. Crono had been a nice man, as far as he could remember, even helping him out at the Denadoro mountains. And now he was evil. Before Tata could contemplate this change however, a blade was at his throat.
"We got screwed over and trapped in this time period, so we decided to take it out on Magus. And then we found out…" He drew his blade across Tata's neck. "That killing is FUN."
That done, Crono returned to his throne, sitting normally this time.
"Lucca, clean this up, will you?"
Grunting, Lucca dragged the corpse of Tata out of the room. As the door closed, Crono turned to Marle, and, smirking, snapped his fingers and pointed between his legs. She licked her lips.
"Yes, Master Crono…" She said, and knelt down in front of him.
And that is my take on this ending of Chrono Trigger.
