Hi, this is my first upload, so it probably sucks.
Disclaimer: I don't own this series otherwise… 0/0 Yeah I will keep that to myself.

Ash flew through the air without end. All that was left was ash and blood. In the beginning of the war, there was so much hope and life. The forests were filled with shinobi ready to fight for their country. They had all left behind their grudges and feuds for one purpose and one alone; to stop that man's scheme and save the world. It was a familiar scene for many. They knew of the terrors of war and its cruelties, but for the new generation, it was hell. The innocent spark in their eyes had long ago dimmed, but it had been crushed brutally by the scenes of carnage.

A figure moved in the shadows. His once bright clothes were now torn to shreds and his friend's blood covered him. He once had a smile that lit up the night, but all that was left now was a grimace of sorrow. He had failed. He had failed to protect his friends and he had failed to stop the destruction of his country.

'Why? Why did this happen?'

Memories flashed behind his eyes. Obito had outsmarted everyone, even his father, but the juubi had been too strong. It ran rampant and destroyed everything, everyone, in it's path. The screams of the civilians and shinobi that had once been so loud and filled with agony had become silent. 'I can't tell what's worse anymore. I can't stand to hear my friends scream, but this silence…'

Sasuke had opened his eyes to the truth, but it had been too late. He simply became another body left behind in the slaughter. He had thrown away his life to protect the country his brother had and his past lover still was.

'Kakashi-sensei, Sakura-chan, Sai… Sasuke, I'm going to make this right.'

The man stood, what was left of his orange jacket falling off his shoulders. He hands flew through the positions as the name of the jutsu spilled from his mouth. Using what was left of his chakra, he sent himself back, back to the past to change the future or destroy it. At the moment he didn't care and when a bright flash blinded his eyes he didn't make a sound.

Birds chirped around him and sunlight flitted past his window. Opening his eyes, he gazed at his room, something he hadn't seen in so long it almost brought tears to his eyes. A small, barely there grin covered his face.

"Yatta!"

Review if you like and don't be afraid to correct me if I did anything wrong. Whether or not this stays a one shot or becomes a prologue depends on what you all think of this and whether I'm motivated enough to get my lazy ass outta bed.
