I was born in the middle of the Indian Ocean, during a typhoon, on a pirate ship. So you could say I was born a pirate.

It was hard being part of a pirate family, so I ran away from home and began my adventures. I stowed away aboard a ship, Good Fortune I think it is was called. I arrived in Tortuga after spending three horrible nights on Good Fortune.

The first night I spent on Good Fortune was the best of the three. I got a few jobs, but all I really did was sit around waiting for someone to ask me to do something. I knew how to do most things on a ship. I practically grew up on one. You may have heard of my father. He is a pirate too. He is known a Captain Teague. Growing up with him as a father was hard. He made you learn every part of a ship and that was before you were five. I had to get away from him. He drove you mad.

Okay, back to Good Fortune.

Luckily no one knew who I was on the ship. I didn't want them to find out either. I went by the name of Smithy and went about with my duties. The ship was captained by a man named Bartholomew Roberts. He wasn't that hard on me at first, but the longer I stayed the more he pushed me. He said to me "You'll make a good pirate one day, Smithy. You'll have to work hard for it." He gave me every job you could imagine and more.

It was on the second day that I started getting a list of orders. Do this...Do that.... I was exhausted when it got to lunch time. That's the one thing I could say that was worse than my duties. Lunch. You could say that it was a bit off. I didn't know that you could buy green bread. They didn't have a good supply of food on the ship. That was why they were going back to Tortuga, but drink was part of the reason too. Pirates do love their drink, not that I complain. I would murder for rum.

I kept going off subject. I'll get back to the third day on the ship.

It was a better day overall. We had few duties because we were going to make port soon. I checked that I had my few possessions and got ready to make port.
