It was night. The sapphire sky cradled the luminous moon as it glistened upon the valley. Life stood still, and the summer gale spoke serenity. Hours after practicing his violin, Tsukimori sat aimless in his quarters, pondering the reality of his surreal life. He had let the concours entice him, leaving him discontent and thirsting for success. Despite his victory, being involved in a musical competition was not easy for him. Having been under the spotlight of his critically acclaimed family of musicians, he had a point to prove. The idea of partial failure tormented him. Focused and determined was all that he could be. It was all that he was raised to be.
As he fell into a slumber, a delicate melody crept into his room. Like the oceans tide, it came and it left, leaving an indistinctable path. As it began to crescendo, Tsukimori returned from his idle state, unfamiliar with this voice he had heard. In the stillness, the melody called to him. He stood up and walked slowly to the balcony, answering the call. As he stepped outside, the melody intensified, revealing Hino playing her violin. As he looked down upon her, the melody whispered warmth in his ears. The beams of the moon highlighted every detail of Hino's angelic face, embracing her sincere beauty. Despite his uncertainties, the comfortable peace he felt over took his senses. Standing in a trance, the music began to flow in and out of his body. The music had grown to a mezzo - forte and the colors of the melody stood transparent against the soothing, legato wind.
The melody in itself was remarkable yet Tsukimori felt something was missing. As the melody continued to whisper to him, he lifted his violin and joined in. The melody had split into two completely different yet similar sounds. As the harmony and the melody danced with each other, cascading downward and upward, the moon seemed to shine a little brighter. Each phrase completely fit the other, as a hand to a glove. The bottom voice supported the top voice, resonating strength. Resembling a lover and his mistress, the melodies became one thing. One body. One voice.
Having been whole - heartedly playing her violin, Hino had not realized that Tsukimori was above her. The melody that she once played alone was about to grow into something greater, like a branch blooming into a mighty oak. As she continued to play her own melody, the music called to her as it called to Tsukimori. As she opened her eyes, she saw him beginning to play with her. Standing in awe, the reality of life hit her. The music had set her free and she began to play with a sound mind and free spirit. As her finger tips danced upon the strings, she dove into the unknown.
The gentle and heartwarming music they once shared reluctantly came to a close. As the melodies subsided, the borders they had set for their lives were knocked down and their futures became limitless. The only thing that now mattered was the unspoken bond of music that brought them together. The only thing that mattered was the rebirthing of a beautiful sound.
