Despondent.
It means to be without hope.
As she wandered throughout the little cemetery, her chocolate eyes glazed over, she felt all hope evaporating into the night air. Her hand trailed over the scarf wound around her neck as she looked on, every step bringing a sharp pain. Her eyes looked up to the full moon, watching as it was gradually was blocked by dark clouds. Rain poured down on her pale form, but she paid it no mind as she took each step.
Her blue furred companion was not with her, having finally fallen asleep in her arms earlier. But she couldn't sleep. If she did, she would have nightmares.
She kept forward, a peaceful frown on her face. She didn't even hoist up the cloak that was skimming the ground, like the fog coming near.
Her feet soon came to a stop, and she looked down upon a new, but tattered, grave. Her wet, blond hair covered her face as she bowed her head, the dry sobs she gave being drowned out by ominous thunder. Her hands curled tightly at her sides, hindering the dark emotions inside her.
Then, she was running.
She ran, not stopping no matter how much her body cried out in agony. She pushed past the pain that had accumulated in her chest, ignoring the tears in her cloudy eyes.
She ran until she could no more, collapsing on the damp ground as her knees gave out. She cried into her arms, and she could feel the mud soaking through her clothes, the rain chilling her already cold body. Sobs racked her form as she let out all the pain, her screams resonating throughout the area.
And through it all, she thought she felt a light hand touch her head, filling her with warmth.
"Don't cry, you weirdo. It'll be alright..." she heard the wind whisper, and she dared to look up, only to see nothing. There was no blinding smile and mischievous onyx eyes to greet her, no salmon hair to run her hands through. Her eyes darkened, her tears mixing with the rain.
How could it be alright, she wondered bitterly, when there's no hope?
He was gone...and now, so was she.
