Bad Hand

SPN 100 challenge, word: hole.

Summary: People have always known about strange worlds and nasty creatures living door to door with our reality. So: no surprise here.

A/N: It's been a while, I couldn't remember how to do this in a 100 words ;-) Sorry.

"I'm too late", he thought, feeling his way through the damp darkness. "I'll never make it."

"Damn right", the darkness purred, and a wide grin with pointed fangs started to glow dimly, like an emergency exit.

"So that's how it feels to go mad", he mused, stumbling over something soft.

In the faint light he could make out a body clad in velvet and silk. There was a hat, too. Only the head was missing.

"Oh, come on. You've got to be kidding."

There was a strange tapping, like a pulse or feet marching in step, coming closer until he recognized burning torches and gleaming white dresses.

"Off with his head", someone screeched.

A six foot high Jack of Hearts stepped forward, winking apologetically.

"Sorry, old boy", he said, raising his sword. "But you know how mothers can be."

"Not exactly", Dean replied, grabbing the torch from a non-suspecting Ace of Spades, "but I remember what my Dad taught me" – and he set the stupid playing cards alight.

He didn't see the hole in the ground until it sucked him up.

He awoke with a start next to Sammy on the couch.

"Didn't I warn you about watching horror movies?", his brother chuckled, turning off the Disney DVD.

"Who asked you, smartass?", grumbled Dean – warily glancing at the half-eaten mushroom frittata and scanning the room for white rabbits with pocket watches.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."
