"I have terrible news, listeners" said Cecil from behind his microphone. "The strexpet I was given this week has attacked Koscheck. I called animal control as soon as I saw the scene, but they were flustered for several minutes before finally discovering that the pet is an android, and flipping a switch to deactivate the monster." He took in a slow, even breath. "On the bright side, I got to hold Koscheck for the first time. I cuddled him and carried him around the house. Carlos is allergic to cats, but I bought him some claritin, and he should be fine." Cecil sighed lovingly into the mic. "Oh Carlos," he said, changing the tone of his voice completely, making it higher and brighter. "Carlos is staying in my apartment, listeners. He says that he needs to do some tests on Koscheck and so he is staying in my apartment." Another sigh. "Isn't that wonderful?" His question remained unanswered as Carlos the perfectly imperfect scientist and love of Cecil's life came bursting through the studio door.
"You're going to have to wait a moment," Cecil said turning around to see who the intruder was. "Carlos?" He said, sounding embarrassed. "What are you doing here?" Carlos stepped closer to Cecil, trying not to be loud. "I don't think that it's wise to tell all of Night Vale where we live, or what we're doing." Cecil bowed his head. "You're right, Carlos. I'm sorry." The lovely scientist felt a pang of guilt. "Cecil, it's fine I was just listening and I just didn't want it to happen again in the episode. What we do is between us and the sheriff's secret police, okay?"
"Wait," Cecil said, straightening in his chair. "You listen to my show?" Carlos smiled weakly. "Every time you're on." Cecil turned back to the microphone. "Hold on listeners," he said taking of his headphones. "What do you think of it?" Cecil said. "It's intriguing," said Carlos, walking to Cecil so there was only inches between them. "Like you." Cecil's breath hitched. and he became very nervous. "Carlos, are you trying to say what I think you're trying to say?" he said, his smooth voice becoming rushed and short. Carlos closed the space between them, cupping Cecil's face in his hands and kissing him softly. "I love you," said Carlos, touching their foreheads together. "I love you too," said Cecil, "And I've wanted to say that ever since you came into town." Carlos smiled, and began walking towards the door. Cecil stumbled back into his chair and clumsily placed his headphones over his ears. "Did you hear any of that, listeners?"
