Sequel to Talent Show. Hope you liked it as much as I did. Song was One Last Breath by Creed.

Eden sighed from where she sat on the roof of one of the many hangers that made up Diego Garcia. After the talent show, she'd began coming onto the roof more and more often to watch the stars and think. She hummed under her breath as she looked at the different constellations.

"I'm looking down now that it's over

Reflecting on all of my mistakes

I thought I found the road to somewhere

Somewhere in His grace

I cried out heaven save me

But I'm down to one last breath

And with it let me say

Let me say…" She smiled slightly as she felt herself being picked up by a familiar servo. Optimus held her against his chassis as he walked off base and sat with a huge bolder at his back. He leaned against it lightly, just holding his daughter. The two sat in silence for a long time, Eden taking all the security he offered gratefully.

"They found out that she had cancer when she was five," Eden began sadly. "She took the news the best out of all of us. They nearly had to sedate mom, she was freaking out so bad. He'd left by then, so it was just the three of us. Taylor started going through Chemo, and she lost all her beautiful chocolate hair." Tears began to slip down her cheeks. Optimus held her closer to him and rumbled his chassis. "She began to lose weight, but she was a fighter until the end. The last few months she was in the hospital all the time. I stayed with her the entire time. She lived past all the time limits the doctors set for her. The night she died, she was unusually affectionate, and I was cuddled with her when her heart stopped." She paused to wipe her face, letting out a small sob.

Optimus ran his servo over her head comfortingly. She purred lightly, nuzzling the warm metal that covered his spark. She took a deep, settling breath as she started her sad tale again.

"Mom didn't take Taylor's death well. She had always loved Taylor more, because I looked like him, and it reminded her of what she'd rather forget. She committed suicide a month later. I was put into the foster system until I met you bots. I was just visiting Sam when everything happened. If I hadn't been, I'd have likely never met you guys, and I would have most likely tried to commit suicide."

Optimus held her closer at the thought of her offlining herself, fear creeping into his spark. "We must not think of the 'what ifs', Eden, for it will drive us mad. We must look to the future and work with what we are given."

The two continued to cuddle together, looking to the stars, thankful for what they were given.
