Scraps' tail gave a feeble wag as Scraps waited. Scraps was a good waiter—He had waited for years for his Master to come, and till then, he waited with his adopted Mistress. Aah, Scraps' Mistress, Scraps' wonderful, dazzling Mistress.

She came to Scraps with the breath of life still in her. She wasn't decayed yet, she was…Wonderful. Her arm was ripped off most brutally, in a horrid fashion, as was some skin on her cheek. She was obviously murdered, no doubt about it. Horror was still in her eyes as she clutched quickly decaying flowers and screamed and screamed. Scraps ran to her, Scraps comforted her. Emily was still beautiful, she had skin, and long hair on her head.

Emily reminded Scraps of Victor, who Scraps really misses. Much more time went past, and Scraps still missed Victor.

Victor is alive, and he used to play with Scraps. Victor's mother was an awful lady, and she hit Scraps' tail, and it hurt, oh, it hurt! Scraps remembers all the times Victor snuck out and did the unheard of—Disobeyed. This was surprising for Victor, but Victor loved Scraps. Scraps loves Victor. And Scraps misses Victor.

Scraps remembered when Scraps died. Scraps lay there, and Scraps wasn't happy. Scraps and Victor were crossing the street, and a horse came along. Scraps doesn't like horses. The horse nearly hurt Scraps' Victor, but Scraps protected him, and Scraps did. Then? Scraps died.

Scraps remembers, oh yes, Scraps remembers lying there, hurting. Scraps hurt so much, it hurt Scraps to breathe, so Scraps tried barking, but Scraps couldn't. Victor started crying, so Scraps was even more sad. Scraps never wants Victor to be sad—Why was he sad? Scraps hoped that Victor wasn't hurt. Victor's parents were happy that Scraps was hurt. Then, Scraps opened his eyes and Scraps saw here.

Scraps wasn't happy here. No one had quite the aura that Victor did, and Scraps can't quite figure it out. Scraps waited and waited, and no one was with Scraps while he waited. They couldn't talk to Scraps because no one understood Scraps' barks. Not like Victor did. Scraps said he was lonely, and Bernice brought Scraps food. Victor always knew what to do.

Emily came with that aura that Victor had. Emily came and paid attention to Scraps. Emily came and loved Scraps. She didn't get things right a lot, but Scraps wasn't lonesome anymore.

Then, Emily gave Scraps the most wonderful gift. Emily gave Scraps Victor, but his eyes had no shine and his hair was longer and his voice was different. He looked so scared at first, but then Victor came back when Victor smiled. Victor was so happy to see Scraps.

We were so happy. Scraps, Emily and Victor. Scraps was so happy and Scraps never stopped barking or wagging. Scraps was that happy to hear Victor say those familiar commands. Oh, Scraps remembered for Victor, all that time, because Victor tried so hard to teach Scraps those.

Everything was so happy, oh, it was so wondrous. Scraps was so happy to be with his Master and Mistress that Scraps could do anything they wanted Scraps to do.

Then, Emily and Victor disappeared. So Scraps waited and waited and waited. A dead butterfly came and left, but no Emily came back to Scraps. No Victor came back to Scraps. Scraps will wait, Scraps will wait. Scraps will wait forever until his Master and Mistress comes back, and then Scraps' life will be complete once again. Until then, Scraps will do what he's done for far too long. Scraps will wait.
