One scene in Heartbroken Bride bugged me... okay, a lot of scenes bugged me, but there was one to which I could give a semi-decent response.

The ER doctor had sent Perry up to have his shoulder x-rayed; there was nothing to do now but wait.
Della didn't like waiting. It had been ten minutes before she could touch him, could look into his eyes and know for herself that he wasn't seriously hurt. It had been ten minutes too long. She would make sure it never happened again.
"I understand you were trying to minimize the chaos in the courtroom, Ken," her tone hardened to match the steely look in her eyes, "but don't ever keep me from going to Perry."
"Yes, ma'am," he gulped.
