It's just another day in Scranton, and the employees of Dunder Mifflin trudge languidly in for the regular nine to five. Of course; with people around like Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute, today will be far from any feasible normalcy.
"Okay!-Everybody it's FUN FRIDAY! So put down your pencils log off your PC's and Mac's and lets have us some fun!" Shouts Michael from the door frame of his office.
"Michael." Puts in the secretary Pam, "It's the end of the quarter so-" Michael cuts her off immediately
"We celebrate! With… FUN FRIDAY! YAHOOOOOOOOOO!"
Jim Halpert, another employee, speaks up as well,
"Michael we need to work today, because, we're. . . um, low on our quota, and if we don't meet it we're more than likely gonna get fired by corporate. I like fun, but I like my job more."
Several people nod in agreement from their cubicles.
Michael knows that Jan, an employee in the corporate branch of Dunder Mifflin, is upset with Michael after a break-up, so she's more than likely itching to trash the Scranton branch by any excuse she can find. Not meeting quota would be a perfect opportunity. She has the power which she hangs over Michael like a sword and all the employees know their branch is skating on thin ice.
Toby nods in agreement with his co-workers,
"They both have a good point Michael, you just can't slack off to this as the quarter's ending, and you need to finish your paper wor-"
"NO, No, no," Michael interrupts, "It's FUN FRIDAY, and as your boss, I am forcing you to have fun! You have no choice in the matter, so let's all gear up for fun!" His expression is that of an over excited puppy.
"Michael" Dwight comments with apprehension. "I really must ask you to reconsider this . . . juvenile wish; we all need our jobs."
"Dwight" Michael whispers coolly "Is it not the 3rd week of the month?"
"It is."
"Also, is it not Friday, the 6th day of the week?"
"Yes, but Michael we really need to-"
"Then it's FUN FRIDAY!" He cuts off Dwight once again, "Rejoice all ye mortal men of the earth!" Michael jumps in the air, waving his arms franticly
Dwight looks at Pam and Jim. They needed help. But who?
An hour later, 11:00 A.M. , Michael's office phone rings.
"Hello?"
"Michael." A female voice hisses through the receiver.
"Jan! . .Um … hi. How are you?" the awkwardness could be felt even through the phone
"Michael, this is strictly professional." Jan's voice is filled with irritation "Your employees tell me you are behind this quarter. This is nothing to be messed around with. If you are not caught up by the end of the quarter, and your paper work is not in, you will be let go. Am I understood?"
"Yes Jan, Yes you are. Understood clearly and as transparently as fresh air with-" Michael stutters
" Michael!" She is not tolerating his adolescent stammering
"Yes right, sorry it had to come to this." Michael is just as spiteful as she, "Good-bye."
Michael walked out to address the office.
"Alright. Office outing at Outback Steakhouse, after work at 6:00, but until then, back to work." His voice is official and strict.
And as of thus, peace resounds in the hollow cubicles and boring hours of the office. Until tomorrow, when strife would resume once again.
