Is this the edge of eternity?
Those blue eyes with stars behind them
sinking into infinite.
I could stare into
those eyes forever.
I could tell her that.
I could tell her now.
As I sink into
those oceany depths I know
this is what heaven looks like.
I feel the pain again.
It breaks my reverie
and all is Claire again.
The world seems muted
but for her, angel with red hair.
There's rain running down her face--
no impossible. It's tears.
Could she be crying for me
after all I've failed?
After all I've failed--
stuck with a needle by a lunatic.
Couldn't breath.
Couldn't think--
out of control.
And then danger.
For her I'd give anything.
For her I gave everything.
No remedy for love.
Her hands are on my face;
around me. The first
consenting touch.
Her fingers are nimble
and so warm.
It's hard to breath again--
to live beyond this.
What could I give to stay
one day more with her?
to have a life with her?
a chance with her?
Over-spiteful bitch,
thinking that she's a goddess
with her sun-gold hair
and eyes like ice.
We're not her pawns
but here I am.
I think I'm dying.
Blue crystal eternity.
Can I walk into your eyes
for my end?
The interchanging shards
of blue and green--
stairway to heaven.
I'd carry you with me
but I'd be stealing you from your brother--
promise broken.
"Your brother kept his promise to you.
I am sorry I cannot."
I hear the voice of an angel crying:
"don't you die on me."
There's nothing I can do.
I feel heavy:
just glad to be
in her arms.
Glad to do some good.
She's alive.
If I die she will be alive.
He will come--
she will survive.
That's all that matters.
She bends closer and
my heart spasms.
With all I have left:
"I love you,"
And fade into her eyes.
