Author's Note: Well, Here is the first chapter of my new story. Please Review!!!

Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own Twilight.

From the moment she walked into the room, I could tell something was wrong. I could feel it. Sadness, confusion, anger, and most prominently, fear. The jumble of emotions confused me as much as it did her. I tried to calm her down, but she didn't want to be calmed.

"Jasper, I need to talk to you."

She sounded very upset. I wondered what was wrong. She must have seen something. But what was it?

"What's wrong?"

"I have to leave."

Now I was really confused. Leave? Why? What did she mean by that?

"What? Leave like... go hunting?" I asked hopefully. But I doubted that was what she meant.

"No, leave like leave the family. I have to go live somewhere else. Somewhere far away."

"Why?" I was getting worried now.

"I... I saw... I can't tell you. It's not safe. I just have to go."

I tried to reason with her.

"Whatever you saw... it can't be that bad. You have all of us to protect you. You're safe here."

"It's not me I'm worried about, it's... Oh, never mind. I just have to leave. And you have to leave."

Well, so much for logic.

"When are you coming back?" Maybe it's just a short trip. She'll go away for a while, deal with whatever's going on, then she'll come home and everything will go back to normal.

"I'm never coming back."

"Why not?"

"I have to... it's just that... it's not safe."

I tried the calming thing again. I had to get her to stop and think logically about this. But it just got her more upset.

"Jasper, please. Don't do that to me. Don't make this any harder than it has to be."

Until now, I hadn't really thought she would go. But I realized now that she was serious.

"What does Carlisle think of this?"

"He said I should go. If that's what I think is best, I should go."

"Oh. And you do?"

"Yes. It's safest for everyone if I'm not here."

I realized I couldn't stop her. Nothing I said would keep her here. So I stopped arguing.

"When are you going?"

"Tonight."

Wow. That was soon. And once she was gone, I would never see her again. That fact hadn't quite sunk in yet.

"Oh." That was the best answer I could come up with.

The whole time, she had been standing in the doorway, looking like if she could, she would cry. It was awful to see her that way.

She walked toward me, then, and we both sat on the couch. She leaned against me and I put my arms around her.

"I'm going to miss you." she whispered.

"I'll miss you too."

"Maybe I can come see you sometimes."

"I would like that."

We sat in silence for a long time, thinking. And just being together for the last time.

I barely notice the hours passing. Finally, she stood up.

"It's time for me to go."

I nodded and followed her out of our room. We walked downstairs, out to the front porch where everyone was waiting, including Bella. They said their goodbyes, and then Alice and I walked away from the others. She was silent, staring into the darkness. After a moment, I turned her to face me.

"I will see you again. I promise."

She still said nothing, simply shook her head slowly.

"I love you." I said soflty.

"I love you too."

I kissed her.

After a while, she pulled away and looked up at me. The sadness in her eyes was almost unbearable.

"Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

And then she was gone. It was then that I fully understood what this meant. I turned and walked slowly back to the house. I spoke to no one as I passed them. I went straight upstairs to what used to be our room but I realized now was just mine. As I passed, I heard Bella whisper something to Edward.

"Is he going to be ok?"

"I don't know." he told her.

But I knew. And the answer was no. I would never be ok. Because Alice was gone. Forever.
