Artemis sat in the cell, examining the gold coin he'd received from Captain Holly Short. A perfect circle cut through the middle, where she'd shot it.

This coin was more to him than a trinket, or even a gold coin. It was a memory, and a symbol of respect. Holly respected him for helping to save her finger, and, in turn, her career.

He hadn't been lying when he told the school therapist he'd finally found someone he respected. He respected Captain Holly Short. She had hated him, but she'd put that aside to save her people, working with him. And, in the end, had told him she had respect for him. Artemis hadn't told her at the time, but he returned the sentiment.

A guard banged on the door. "The time has come, Mud Man. Any last words?"

Artemis smiled humorlessly. "I would like one small favor."

Two days later, Captain Holly Short had a visitor. "Ma'am? I have come to honor a dying man's wish."

Holly raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

He nodded. "Yes. Two days ago, at 0600 hours, A Mister Artemis Fowl was executed for Crimes Against the People. He asked me to give his to you." The guard pulled a gold coin out of his pocket and handed it to Holly, who'd gone numb in shock. "He wishes for you to know that he returns the sentiment, whatever that means."

Holly nodded slowly. "I understand. Thank you for telling me."

"Doing my job, ma'am." He left, having to return to his post soon.

Holly closed the door and slid down it, holding the gold coin flat in her palm. She rubbed her thumb over the middle circle punched from her weapon, surprised to find it smooth instead of sharp like it should have been. She held it up, examining it. The edge had been rubbed smooth, probably form the same action she was doing now.

She clutched the coin in her hand. "I remember, Artemis. And I'd like to thank you, because I don't think you've ever respected anyone other than your family and Butler. I'll keep this coin, and remember."

[A/N]: So, how was it? I'd honestly like to know; this is my first try at writing for this fandom. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
