A/N: Another early fic. Again, I've tweaked it to smooth a couple of things. Just a little piece of Tai/Sora friendship.

Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon.

Warm Memories.

The park was boring, the auburn haired five year old decided. The few children who were there didn't want to play soccer with her, preferring instead to play in the sand tray, or on the roundabout and swings. Glumly, she looked down at the ground, wondering if anyone wanted to play with her, when a shadow fell over her.

Screwing her face up into a scowl, she glanced up, only to see a boy, about the same age as her, with tanned skin, and very wild hair staring down at her.

"Hi," he chirped.

"Hi," she muttered, more out of politeness than anything else.

"What you doing?" He sat down next to her.

"Nothing." She answered, sullenly. "No one wants to play with me."

"Why not?"

"Because they don't like my choice."

The little boy cocked his head, eyes curious. "What's that?"

"Soccer."

A glint came into those dark chocolate eyes. "I do."

Her head came up, and she eyed him, hope dawning in her face. "Do you want to play with me?"

"Do you have a ball?"

Her face fell again, and she hung her head. "No. I had to leave it at home."

"Oh. I-wait here." he ran off. She watched him go, then sighed and gazed up at the cloudless sky.

He was back in a short while, toting a battered soccer ball under one arm. Her eyes, those expressive amber eyes, lit up again.

"Bet I can beat you!" He told her.

A challenging grin swept over her face. "Bet you can't. I'm pretty good, for a girl."

"We'll see, won't we? C'mon!" he shot off towards the playing field, with her racing after him, laughing.

The teen sat on the swings, staring at nothing, lost in his memories of earlier times, not noticing the children running past, or the dark grey of the sky that threatened rain.

Something landed at his feet, and surprised, he looked down. A soccer ball? What was that doing here? Had some kid lost it? Bending down to pick it up, he became aware that someone was standing in front of him. Looking up, his eyes took in a lean figure, slightly tanned skin, auburn hair and those amber eyes he remembered so well.

She smiled. "Hey."

"I-hey," he answered, surprised.

"Fancy a game?" She nodded at the ball he was holding.

A small smile found its way onto his face. "Sure. I am going to kick your ass though."

"Huh!" she snorted, "Just because I don't play it anymore doesn't mean I won't beat you, Taichi Kamiya!"

He stood up, that dare devil smirk she knew so well on his face. "Oh yeah? We'll see about that! Race you!"

They both ran off, the distance between them forgotten, for the moment, at least.
