I do not own The Legend of Zelda, the character of Sheik; I do own all original characters and this back story. All my idea, really.. I came up with it in a role-play a million years ago. If you would like to read the more modern stuff I suggest going to this fic The New Chronicles of Hyrule: Shadows Joined. It was written by desolate inspiration who is my sister and former Role Play partner - she has the fiction based on our games and this is simply the longest over due back story ever. Enjoy! 3

The tales of all hero's are epic and grand, being told and retold by generations of people long after the fabled hero has passed away. No one ever tells stories about the people who help the hero on their journey, unless they themselves were equally heroic in the manner in which they helped the hero; such as being a old time honored knight whose own armor and sword were given to the hero at the start of his journey or a young princess whose messages helped him find the courage and strength to not only save her but the entire kingdom…

These people are remembered; their names become legend along with the hero's. However, the people who are not remembered, the ones they never tell stories about are the anti-hero's, the ones who are good in their own right but are overlooked. The Sheikah for example are anti-hero's, they stick to the shadows and only help the hero along in a cryptic manner, but why bother helping him at all… it's the hero's job to save the world right? Why would a race of people who dislike the light and recognition the hero receives when they could easily ignore the world that is in danger and just go about their lives as they have done for thousands of generations.

The reason for why they would bother is not a grand one, but rather a reason from two different sides. The Sheikah people swore an oath to the kingdom of Hyrule; a oath that they would always protect its royal family… the second was given by a sole man of the Sheikah people, a vow no a bargain struck with the Golden Goddess in the years of Hyrule's youth that every time evil would come into the kingdom, every time the darkness that destroyed his life rose up like bile and filth into the peaceful lands he would come forward. He would come and do everything by using the dark Shadow Magic of his people to ensure that the Hero of Hyrule would win the fight, that evil would not win these virgin lands.

This mans promise came at a cost, it came with knowing that he would never die; no matter how many times he would want to in the spans of his long life, this man who was once a simple farmer would battle.

That was the barging made, the promise he has kept…

The most unlikely hero, a man driven by revenge, a dark shadow caster of the Sheikah - this tale belongs to only he; the one who lost everything the first time the darkness of Ganondorf rose. He is Sheik
