"Waking Up In Vegas" - Katy Perry

"There's just one finally thing, Agents." Skinner addressed Mulder and Scully as they were about to stand upon finishing their report of the latest case. He removed a single piece of paper from a manila folder, placing it on the desk for them to see.

Scully's usual calm demeanor instantly broke, as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Oh, God," she muttered.

Mulder merely smirked upon reading the bold font atop the thick, crisp page: CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE.

"If you wouldn't mind explaining this?" Skinner ordered.

"We've filed the necessary paperwork to have it annulled," Mulder reasoned, though still smirking.

No. No, they hadn't.

"You know the Bureau's policy on Agent fraternization," Skinner sighed, "Romantic relationships are-"

"I assure you, there's nothing romantic about it, sir," Scully objected.

Skinner stared incredulously at her. "Agent Scully, it's been my experience that's the only matter of relationship two people who choose to get married have."

It was Scully's turn to sigh. "While toasting the success of closing the case, Agent Mulder and I got onto the topic of the longevity of our partnership," she explained.

"How we've basically been married the last seven years," Mulder jested.

"Alcohol was involved," she grimaced.

"It was just sort of a dare that got out of hand," her partner finished.

Never mind that they had awoke the next morning in Scully's hotel room. In her bed. Naked. But those were just tiny, insignificant details.

"Mine and Agent Mulder's relationship -our partnership- still remains completely platonic," she concluded.

They fell into an uncomfortable silence, awaiting the Assistant Director's wrath.

"A dare," their boss mused.

Both Agents nodded slightly, like scolded children.

"Alright," he finally decided, placing the document back in the folder, "As long as you get it annulled."

Mulder said, "Yep," as Scully replied, "Of course, sir."

"You can go," Skinner dismissed, leaning back in his chair.

The two Agents stood, and began to make their exit, when Mulder turned back to their boss.

"Hey, don't suppose I could get a copy of that?" he asked, "I was thinking about having it fram-"

But Scully's cold, steel glare stopped him dead mid-sentence.

"Never mind."
