Pairing – Scorpius/Rose
Prompt – Situation: A Wedding
Sometimes, a day you dream about forever turns out… badly.
The flowers turn up late, your musician goes into labour part way through the ceremony, your insane ex-boyfriend shows up and your husband-to-be shaves his hair off.
This was the situation Rose had been dreading happening since watching Marshall and Lily's wedding in that one episode of How I Met Your Mother. Scorpius had told her that watching muggle television would rot her brain, but she hadn't realised quite how much that was true.
"Rose!" called Lily. "Wakey wakey, it's your big day!"
Lily was to be Rose's maid of honour, and she felt incredibly lucky to have been chosen over all of Rose's other friends and cousins. However, this meant it fell to Lily to make sure that everything was perfect.
First stop was hair. Five stylists fussed over Rose and Lily, readying them for the momentous occasion. The remaining three dealt with the hair of Molly, Roxanne and Lucy, the other bridesmaids.
The hair stylist were quickly replaced with make-up artists, who didn't spend very long on any of the girls.
At last, thought Rose, it was time to put on her wedding dress.
Her four bridesmaids held the dress open for her as she stepped in, before arranging it and adjusting the straps on the bodice. They stepped back to admire her, before changing into their dresses.
Rose stared at herself in the mirror. Her red hair was pinned up on one side with a blue and green jewelled butterfly, and cascading down in ringlets on the other. Her chestnut coloured eyes had been outlined in a dark kohl, and her cheeks had been lightly brushed with glitter.
Her dress was simple yet elegant, and more of a creamy gold than white. With a strapless sweetheart neckline, corset bodice and ball gown skirt, it was everything she had ever dreamed it would be… and more.
She turned to look at her bridesmaids, each in a pale silver dress, but different coloured tights. Lily in green, Molly in red, Roxanne in blue and Lucy in gold. Their hair was done up with small roses of the same colour, and each carried a matching posy of flowers.
"Ready, Rosie?" asked Lily, holding out her hand.
"Ready," replied Rose, taking her hand.
Together, the five of them headed down to the ballroom in the Malfoy Manor. As they reached the doors, a band started to play the traditional wedding song, and Rose's father held out his arm for her. She grasped it tightly, and looked up to see Scorpius smiling down at her, tears swimming in his eyes.
It was all she could do not to run down the aisle, but she had to continue at the pace of the music.
It felt like an age before she reached him, but she was finally there, and latching onto his hands. Her eyes began to water as they smiled happily at each other, drinking in the other person. The minister began to speak.

Sometimes, it's the best of your life.
