Kids Fighting Crime

Children fighting crime without the proper training, and putting themselves in dangerous environments.

When most people see Batman and Robin on TV they think about all the positives such as the heroes protecting the city and how they've made Gotham a safer place by locking up criminals. But no one stops to think about the negatives such as The Boy Wonder fighting crime at such a young age. Would you want your child thinking that this is normal? What about his childhood, does he go to school? How will this affect his Future, physically and emotionally?

We all know Batman and his protégé Robin the boy wonder, as the defenders of Gotham and well known superheroes around the world. They are known for fighting villains like the Joker, Ra's al Ghul, Two Face, Scarecrow, Bane and many more. The interesting and frighting thing is that Robin started fighting these psychotic criminals at the young age of ten. What if your child put themselves in a dangerous environment while trying to fight criminals without the right training? Kids see these heroes on the news, in newspapers and on posters around the city every day, they don't understand the kind of danger and risks that come with the job. Local mother of three Joe Ashford said "I've never stopped and thought about it but this has made me think about all the negatives and I would hate for my children to think that this is normal." The principal at Gotham's finest school Gotham Academy said that "Every child deserves a proper education and thirteen year olds should be in school instead of risking their lives, even if it is for our city we have the police for that."

We also asked some of the students at Gotham academy what they thought of this and they all had similar opinions on the subject but Richard Grayson the ward of Bruce Wayne, told the media, "I see what you mean by kids thinking that they would be able to fight crime like Robin, but I don't think parents would be irresponsible enough to let their children fight crime without the training." How might this affect the kids' mental health? Batman and Robin see people killed and hurt during their line of work every day, children wouldn't be able to deal with the sort of trauma faced in this work and this might affect their mental health in the future. They might be scarred from the traumatic experience that they experienced during the time if they try to fight crime. The families of these children would also be affected by this in a number of different ways. If the children get hurt or killed the mental impact on the families could ruin households, cause parents to try and seek revenge or develop a problem due to the loss of their child because they couldn't deal with this loss, such as a drinking problem to try and drown out the loss of their child and for some, this might cause them to become abusive to their other children. Or just the mental impact of the loss causes them to become ill or heavily depressed.
