My first TRC posting! I'll probably re-edit this, so your reviews will really be appreciated, thanks. Enjoy!

Kurogane doesn't need love.

Or at least, not in the traditional, romantic sense most people identify it with.

If love brings intimacy, he already has that. He does not have the intimacy that certain others have, with all their fondness and endearment and affection. But he does have one person whom he knows and knows him better than anybody else does or ever will. Him, being whom he is, and her, being whom she is; he daresay this is worth more than any degree of intimacy most people will acquire in a lifetime.

If love brings the pleasure of touch, he has no need for it. He sees her purity as an integral part of her. It's part of the enigma that she is, and he's more than content leaving it that way.

If love brings devotion, he is no stranger to it anyway. He may not be the most obedient servant – that, he certainly is not – but he will do anything if he feels it's in her best interest. He will follow her to the ends of the earth, and far beyond that, even if it destroys him.

If love brings trust, vows, gifts and acceptance, he is living proof of that. He has given her the ultimate – his name – and in turn she gave him hers.

No two people will have what he shares with Princess Tomoyo. It's enough for him, enough so he's above "love" and all its shortcomings. For her, he will be.

Her. Only her.

No, Kurogane does't need love.

I've always thought Kurogane's relationship to Tomoyo being akin to Tomoyo's and Sakura's. Well, far from it, but I see a similarity in their sense of devotion (Kurogane to Tomoyo, Tomoyo to Sakura) without any demand (even if he doesn't agree to everything she does, he doesn't really strike me as one to ask anything of her).
