The Chance
It was C.E. 68 when he first met her face-to-face. I'll never forget that day, the day I first saw "a dream walking." Cliché for me to say. Her name was Lacus Clyne, daughter of Chairman Siegel Clyne from Aprilius. Her smile, which sparkled beneath two, twinkling eyes, was electric and made people who received it feel very special.
While her physical beauty and singing voice was astounding, it was her invisible beauty I shall always remember. She really cared about other people and was an extremely talented listener. Her wise words were always exactly what you needed to hear. She was not only admired but also genuinely respected by members of both sexes. With everything in the world to be conceited about, she was extremely humble.
Neeless to say, she was almost every guy's dream. Especially mine. I never thought that despite my cold demeanor, she had changed my mind towards about girls.
Lucky me, she enrolled in the same preparatory school as mine. Even though I'm older than her by 1 year, I still got to walk her to class once a day. And once I even got to eat lunch with her all by myself.
I would think, "If only I could have a fiancé like Lacus Clyne, I'd never look at another female." But I figured that someone this outstanding was probably dating someone already. And my mother had told me that PLANTS had already decided my future with another girl. Damn rule.
So when her father had decided to send Lacus back to Aprilius, I said farewell to my first big crush.
A year later, I met one of her close friends, Nicol Amalfi, in a council meeting which included our parents. With a straight face, I asked how Lacus was.
"Well, she got over you," was Nicol's reply.
"I beg your pardon?" I asked.
"You really stepped up to your name you know, Yzak Joule. You were cruel to her the way you led her on, always walking her to class despite the difference between your classes and making her think you were interested. Do you remember the time you had lunch with her? Well, she stayed by the phone the entire week. She was sure you were going to call and ask her out. But that's the past. She's now engage to Commander Zala's son, Athrun. Did you know that they were just paired up by their parents and not by the PLANTS rule?"
I just had this idea when I read on wiki that Yzak was fond of Lacus. But I'm still a solid YxS supporter, mob!
