A/N: So this was something I wrote right after 'The Candidate' aired and I posted it on my LJ, but never got around to posting it here. For those of you that are waiting for my next chapter of 'I've Missed You So Much', hopefully this is something to tide you over until I can get the next part out.
Disclaimer: Don't own them, but I like to play with them anyway. ;)
1…..the ocean seemed cold to you, a watery grave whose currents ran strong; a trail of blood flowed steadily behind you…..2…you were screaming, silently, loudly, clearly, as pain ripped through your shoulder, your head, your heart; drifting further and further away not just in clarity, but away from the very thing, the very person that made everything clear….3….the pressure in your lungs couldn't compare to the pressure on your heart; the sheer panic that gripped you was enough to make you even forget to breath; on shore Hurley holds you tight, shouting at you to wake up; you try your best to take in air just for him…..4…..you are searching, scanning your eyes across the sandy shore line where the water beats mercilessly; you imagine his body floating lifelessly below the surface and suddenly your lips aren't just salty from the sea….5….you see him and everything else just dulls; you need to be in his arms, in his heart, you need to be his everything, you need to be consumed; the tears flow unwillingly and you are bare before him, vulnerable, but you always were; you collapse into him and the warmth of his embrace helps starve off the cold for one moment – for one moment everything is alright – you take in his smell and the weight of his arm and the feel of his heartbeat as your forehead touches his pulse…..
but the beach is still so cold, so dark, so lonely...it might only be a matter of time before he is gone too….before he might not come back.
"We're done going back Kate." And you wished more than anything that you could.
