Authors Note - I wish I could say this is something I thought of while reading my summer reading books, but I didn't actually read my summer reading books….. :fails at life:
All characters except Xander belong to me.
Enjoy!

Last days of summer. A bittersweet time for parties, sneaking out, girls, and drinking.
At least for normal kids, Noah thought to himself as he bookmarked his page in whatever mediocre novel about kids his age learning valuable life lessons the school district forced upon it's students this year.Making his way to his desk where his computer was on sleep, he took a seat and jutted the mouse. His desktop came into vision, along with the shameful photo of number 11 on his school's football team getting tackled by number 34. As always Noah inwardly laughs at the knowledge he has that it's really his sister's best friend, who just happened to be the only female on the team, tackling Noah's boyfriend, while at the same time blushing at the ridiculously tight uniform adorning Wolfgang's lithe. Seriously. How do football players stay straight?
Clearing those thoughts away, he attempted to open his internet only to have his mouse refuse to move. After a few seconds of futile clicking he labeled the damn thing useless and set off to find his sister.
After checking her room, and the bathroom he went downstairs only to find his mom sitting on the living room couch, fixated on some show Noah couldn't follow for the life of him on NBC.
"Shouldn't you be making dinner?" Sara jumped at her son's question quickly turning her attention away from 'Heroes' and onto him.
She put a pale hand to her chest and let out a breath as her heart rate returned to normal, "Jesus, baby…."
Noah made an amused sound under his breath as he crossed the living room into dining room, hearing his mother call out apologies for forgetting dinner, and asking him if he wanted anything. He peaked into the kitchen. Still no sister.
At a loss, he walked back into the living room and took a seat next to his pajama clad mother. "Not hungry. Seen Emily, though?" His eye quickly caught an attractive Indian man on the T.V. screen.
Sara continued to stare pointedly in the same direction as her fifteen year old, "Her second home." She sounded amused, but Noah caught the hint of sadness in her voice. "That's why I didn't bother making anything. I figured you and I would order out, but you disappeared in your room for three hours before I could ask you what you wanted, then I got caught up in…" She trailed off, gesturing to the television and sparing her son a wry smile.
Noah made another amused noise and gave his mother a sympathetic smile in return. "Well, I was gonna go over to Xander's to use her computer, anyway. I was gonna ask Em to come, but I guess she beat me to it." A shrug. "I could walk her home when I'm done…kay?" It was almost nine after all.
Sara, catching the reasoning behind the innocent act, slowly turned her gaze towards him. "Anyone ever tell you you're the greatest?" There was no trace of humor in her voice. Only affection.
"You. A lot."
The hug they shared lasted a little longer than usual, than Noah was on his way.
"Be safe." Sara's voice reached Noah's ears whether she meant for it to or not.

This story will probably make sense to few people, and for that I apologize. Maybe I'll write more fics with these characters, and other ones to further explain? Someday XD
