iAdvise

I believe it's around four o'clock in the afternoon. School had just gotten out and I had rushed to the coffee shop. I just don't know how adults can go without this stuff for so long. I crave, no NEED that caffeine. Other people might say it's an addiction. My response? Have you ever TRIED Cal's coffee? Yeah, didn't think so.

Just as I take another sip, a man (might I add a very strange one) comes and sit across from me. So, I do the polite thing and talk to to him.

"Uh, sir, if you hadn't noticed, this table's taken," I was hoping he'd leave, but instead he just sighs and replies:

"Yeah, I've noticed. I just need someone to talk to," well, that's nice, so he choose ME?! He looked at me and continued, "If that's alright with you, ma'am?"

Absolutely not! There was no way I would let my precious coffee time be interrupted by some brown-nosing-

"Of course!"

Curse my niceness! I can feel my eye twitch.

He stares at me, as if debating whether or not I'm insane, before going on, "well, you see, I want to propose to my girlfriend..."

He sighs, and mentally debates continuing, so I speak, "Aw, how sweet!" If you would do it somewhere ELSE! I think sourly.

Apparently he's done debating, because he continues "...but if I propose to her, I'll lose...something very important to me," he looks at me, as if I know what to do. Which I don't.

"Um, well...do you love her?" Obvious question, but it needs to be answered.

"Of course-"

"Then what's stopping you?"

"You don't quite understand what I'll be losing if I marry her," How DARE he?! He wanted my opinion, and I gave it to him honestly. I was annoyed, and he could tell.

"Let me tell you a story," he opened his mouth to protest, but I shot him a glare and he backed down. "My own boyfriend, a kind, gentle fellow, proposed to me just before he left to study music in Seattle. He asked me whether or not he should go. I have to admit, it was the hardest decision of my life, but I told him to go. And I would do it again. I sacrificed my own happiness for him. I'm going to join him after finish High School later this year, going to go to nursing school. Now, would you do the same, and sacrifice your happiness for her?"

He looked at me. Throughout that entire tale, he had not spoken or even looked anywhere else but my face. Now he seemed stunned, as though having come to a startling revelation (which I'm sure he has) and, after what seemed like an eternity, spoke.

"Yes, yes I would."

I smiled. Finally I was getting somewhere! "Now, what are you waiting for? You have a ring to buy!"

He nodded running off...before running right back. I gave him a look that said What Now?!

"Um, I never got your name," Oh.

"Oh, it's Marissa. Marissa Benson. And yours" After telling me his name, he ran off again. I chuckled to myself.

Kids...I thought despite the fact that I was probably two years younger than that guy. Nice guy though, that Jerry Russo...

Well, did you expect that? Please tell me how I did!
