A/N: Woah, I posted this and forgot the author's note. This is much, much shorter than what I normally write and I'm realizing that most of the one-shots I'm currently writing are super short. I'm actually making two one-shots into one so it's long enough lskdflksfks. As for Miscommunications, I started chapter three but I stopped writing it to write this and all the other one-shots I started, oops. It''ll be up someday lol.
Enjoy!
3:37 AM.
The clock reads 3:37 AM. He can't fall asleep. He needs a cookie. The monster sleeping next to him, with whom he's in love, forbade him from having another one. In her defense, he did eat 13. In his defense, he only ate 13.
Just one more. One more won't hurt, he thinks. He lifts the comforter from his body and slides out of bed, careful not to wake Erin. He tiptoes around the room to look for his sweats that she tore off of him hours before. He slowly cracks the door open and sneaks toward the kitchen. He walks to the corner that houses the cookie jar shaped like a cop car that he gave her for Christmas a couple years back. When he didn't really know her.
He carefully lifts the lid of the jar, making sure the sides don't clink against each other. He reaches in to the jar for a cookie, but before he gets to eat it he hears a throat clearing.
"What do you think you're doing?"
He jumps at Erin's voice and his arm, still in the jar, jerks to the side and his head turns toward her guiltily. Her arms cross over her chest waiting for an answer.
"I'm pregnant," he says with a straight face and he watches a smile spread onto her face. She chuckles at his lame excuse and her sour mood is lifted.
"Seriously, I'm pregnant. This is not a joke, we need to talk about this," he says while rubbing his middle.
"You're not pregnant, you goof. I am," she says with a hesitant smile. His mouth drops open and his eyes widen slightly. "I found out yesterday." She shifts under his gaze and for a moment she's scared he's upset about it.
He inhales and then exhales with a big smile on his face, "We're gonna have a baby?" He whispers in the softest voice she's ever heard from him. She nods with teary eyes and a watery smile.
He rushes toward her and cups her face with both hands, pressing his lips to hers softly. He wipes the tears that had fallen on her cheeks and he realizes she's doing the same. He didn't even realize he was crying.
He presses their foreheads together, "I love you," he kisses her again, "And I will love this baby will all my heart."
She cries against him and he pulls her into him, letting her cry into his chest. They stood there crying tears of joy for the longest time and she thinks about how this is not at all how she imagined telling him.
It was easier than I thought, she thinks.
He pulls away from her and drops to his knees, lifting up her shirt. He presses soft kisses to her flat stomach.
"Daddy will love you forever, baby."
He looks up to her with so much love in his tear-filled eyes that she feels like her heart has exploded.
Her life is complete.
