Inside my Head

Prompt: "You can be like me"

House/Amber


She was sitting on his desk when he came in on Tuesday morning (barely Tuesday morning, mind you, almost noon), she was wearing flared red pants and a matching red jacket, both matching a rather appealing shade of lipstick, her legs crossed femininely, her hair swept off over one shoulder.

"What do you want?"

"I want to get hired."

House's blue eyes met Amber's oddly identical ones.

"You're fired. It's that simple."

"I've been right more than Thirteen."
"You aren't what I'm looking for."

Amber huffed a little. "Thirteen intrigues you and that's the only reason you kept her on."

"Her self-image doesn't hang on whether her guess was right or wrong," House explained, sitting down in his chair.

"It's a crime to want to be right?"

She got off the desk and walked over so she was in front of his chair.

"It's a crime to not be able to accept being wrong," House corrected.

Amber rather suddenly crawled onto House's chair, straddling him and leaning down to whisper in his ear.

"It's a crime to want to be like you?"

"You can be like me anywhere, you aren't getting the job," he replied, nonchalant.

Amber kissed his ear softly and pulled back

House woke up from the dream rather suddenly. He was particularly confident Amber Volakis wouldn't come back and beg for a job, he was actually nearly one-hundred percent confident that he would probably never have to see her again.

He definitely didn't appreciate her getting inside his head like this. The way she got in his head had a part in why she got fired in the first place. He didn't like people who got inside his head…
