"I'm pregnant," she'd told him one day.

He'd couldn't believe it and had just shook his head. Then he'd left her apartment. Out of his mind, he'd rushed downstairs.

What had he done? He couldn't be a father! He'd never imagined being a father.

Too many thoughts had been running through his mind before he'd almost reached the door of the apartment building his girlfriend lived in. There were too many bad thoughts, but – thankfully – the one right thought crossed his mind right before he was going to open the door, leaving her life forever.

The one thought which had made him turn and head back to his girl's apartment. Seeing her sitting on the floor, crying, he paused. Her sitting there made him catch her into his arms, begging her for forgiveness for being such a selfish asshole, like he'd never done before.

And it had taken him here.

Here, where he was holding his just ten hours old little baby girl in his arms. He felt so proud. As he'd heard his daughter's first cry, he couldn't remember any other reason he'd lived for before this.

From this moment on he'd known.

He lived for her.

He lived for his little girl's mother.

He just lived for them.

They'd completed him. They'd changed him – for good. And he'd almost lost it all.

"Hey," he said softly as he felt her little hand wrapping around his index finger. He rocked her and bent down to her to kiss her forehead softly. "I'm glad you're daddy made the right decision in the right moment," he said.

He smiled at her, realizing she blinked with her clear blue eyes back at him.

"I cannot imagine what I would've missed, if I would've left your mommy. I would've lost my entire life. You and your mommy are the most important people in my life. You both are my life."

He looked up. He watched his girlfriend sleeping and smiled.

Slowly he walked over to her bed and suddenly he noticed her moving. She turned her head and slowly opened her eyes.

"Hey," she whispered, realizing where she was and what just had happened ten hours earlier.

"Hey," he responded and smiled. "How are you?"

"Fine," she said. "Just fine." She nodded and slowly sat up. She closed her eyes and winced slightly, but then she took a deep breath and Danny finally gave her their daughter. Then he sat down beside her.

She leaned against him, holding their little daughter in her arms. She laid her head against his chest and felt him kissing her hair.

"I can't believe I almost lost all this," he said regretfully. "I'm glad that I've made the right decision in the right moment," he whispered his earlier words into her ear.

"Me too, Danny," she whispered and felt him kissing her temple. She closed her eyes.

"I'll never leave you, Linds."

She smiled and looked down at the little bundle in her arms. Then she looked up again and turned to him. "Good," she said. "Because we both won't let you go either!"

"Then we have a deal," he said and smiled. "I love you Lindsay Monroe," he said serious.

"I love you, too Danny Messer," she responded and soon felt his soft lips upon hers.
