The Elizabeth

Under a bright blue sky, in the middle of a small lake of emerald green water, a little yellow boat floats. In the yellow boat, a young woman sits and against her leans a young man.

Laughter surrounds them. It tinkles in the background. Sometimes, it's high- pitched and lyrical. Other times, it's low and deep and rumbly. Occasionally, they smile in response.

The voices reach them from the shore. The sound waves crash into their little world. But today, the voices extend only love, warmth and the occasional joke. The joy permeates them fully. And they smile in response.

Leaning back against the pillows popped against the seat, she sticks her hand over the side of the boat, feeling the rush of water go by. It's cool and lovely. And somehow, it tickles just a little. A laugh escapes her lips. The boy leaning against her snuggles just a little closer. She reaches out with her other hand and intertwines it with his own. He takes her hand and kisses it delicately. And they smile in response.

Joan pulls her hand from the lake and flicks the water off. The cool shock causes Adam to start and laugh. Her laugher joins his and she wraps her arms around him tightly.

The water laps at the boat, making slight sloshing sounds. The sun beats down on them. And a slight breeze flows by. In the background, they can still hear their families' happy raucousness.

On The Elizabeth, Joan and Adam hold onto each other, relish in each other and love each other. They pass their time in quiet reflection or lively, laughing chatter.

Joan bends slightly and kisses the top of Adam's head. He turns to look at her, adoring her with his eyes. His mouth reaches for hers, kissing her deeply. Breaking to catch their breath, they look at each other and smile knowingly. He turns around again and nestles against her basking in the warmth and comfort that permeates him.

She wraps him in her arms and whispers against the wind, "My Adam." His smile is contagious.

"Cha, unchallenged, Jane."

Author's Notes: In reading Deborah's TWOP recap for Jump, the idea for this fic popped into my head. Set in the near future - I'm thinking post- graduation - it's meant to evoke a very idyllic and happy moment in their lives. And mostly, I wanted to show a totally-at-peace Adam.
