Already Slipping

She was late. Harry craned his neck, tipping his umbrella so he rain stayed away. A little voice inside his head whispered doubts and worries. She worked in one of the worst neighborhoods, there was that one customer who was always feeling her up…

Fumbling in his pocket, Harry soon pulled out his cell phone. Flipping it open, he pulled his glasses out of his pocket and pressed buttons and studied the screen before his thumb moved over the keypad. Bringing the cell up to his ear, he spoke quietly as a couple passed him with curious glances on their way into the restaurant. "Hey, it's Harry." He tried to ignore the looks he'd received. "I'm heading back to the apartment. Call me when you get in." He paused as though checking to see if she would pick up as she sometimes did, but after a moment of silence, he took the cell away from his ear.

Flipping the top down, he heard the familiar click, and Harry looked one last time around him before putting the cell back in his pocket. He slowly slipped his glasses off and put them back into his other pocket, and then he stepped away from the restaurant and into the night.
