Preface
There was almost a certain pain and desperation that came with the stilling of one's heart. To acknowledge, to really understand that one's existence was forever and not chained to Time's whim and delusions.
And despite having been on the Earth for 107 years, Edward Cullen was still coming to grips with his lack of humanity in the literal sense. He was still stunned every time he set foot in the sun and witnessed the shining of a thousand diamonds. His mind reeled at the thought of how many words, how many books he had consumed; the vast knowledge he possessed. He was pristine, flawless, something he couldn't wrap himself around because it was supernatural and not humanistic in the slightest.
It seemed to him that he was the only one of his family that was still having a difficulty adapting, and unfortunately it was further complicated with the admission of Fork High's newest student Isabella Swan.
