It had been several hours since the incident at the subway station when Alec finally made his final journey to the apartment. "I'll be out all day." Magnus said, "Come and get your things out of the apartment. Leave your key on the dining room table." Magnus' eyes had searched Alec's face, "It's over. I don't want to see you again, Alec. Or any of your friends. I'm tired of being their pet warlock." Alec kept on running that scene through his head, allowing it to slowly eat away at his breaking heart. He reached into his pocket for the tiny silver key which sat there and swallowed hard before walking up the steps of the pathway which lead to the apartment block and up the stairs. He slowly unlocked the door of the apartment and took in the scene, desperately trying to imprint it on his mind before he advanced into the bedroom. He inhaled sharply, walked over to the bed and proceeded to pull a simple black suitcase from under the bed and began to fill it. It reminded him of when he and Magnus had been packing for the trip around the world.
"Pass me my blue jeans Alexander. Anyway, as I was saying, you'll simply adore Paris and Venice, and India!" Magnus grinned at Alec from across the room as they both tossed various clothing items into their cases. "Aren't you thrilled? We'll be in Paris in twenty minutes!"
Alec smiled slightly, of course he was thrilled! Who wouldn't want to spend a day with Magnus Bane, let alone share a holiday with him. "Mmhmm.. I think you packed the jeans before."
In Alec's hands were the jeans, the jeans which had a faint yet distinct smell of sandalwood. He contemplated weather or not if he should take them as a reminder of what he had lost and eventually decided against it, leaving the jeans folded up neatly in the drawer.
Magnus had rooted to the bottom of the case. "Ah, yes. They're here!" He grinned triumphantly at Alec as he waved them in the air.
All Alec had done was smile.
Alec hefted the suitcase off the bed and slowly dragged it through the threshold which lead to the hallway before taking one last look at the bedroom and shutting the door. If Alec wouldn't have been raised by his father, he would have broken down crying by now - multiple times - but he had been raised by his father to be his fathers son so he proceeded into the kitchen. His sighed heavily as he clenched his fist around the key and then put it on the table.
He heard the apartment door open and the jingle of keys coming from the hallway which made him freeze and feel as though all the air from the room had been sucked out just by that one simple motion. After a few seconds he hastily walked back into the hallway and pulled his suitcase behind him. "I'm going. There's no need to stare at me, I'm not a spectacle." Alec said coolly as he brushed past the warlock to get to the door. "Good-bye Mr Bane." He yanked the suitcase through after him and hurried down the stairs before the warlock could reply.
