Fatal Flaw:

Prolouge

She lay her head on his chest and became entranced with his breathing, so steadily. Her fingers traced along a scar that ran down his collar bone. To the untrained eye, there lay a beautiful couple laced in each others arms. Her blonde hair gleaming like gold in the high afternoon sun, and her grey eyes begging him to wake up. She kissed his lips softly in an attempt to rouse him, just like in the fairytales her father used to read to her. It failed.

"Percy…please wake up." Her voice was barely above a whisper, but she had to reach him. Annabeth Chase had never felt so useless. She a daughter of Athena couldn't think of a clever way to wake her boyfriend from his coma like sleep. They had battled, sword and dagger against monsters of every sort. Percy had been miraculous with his swordplay, he weaved in and out of combat gloriously. Annabeth on the other hand fumbled clumsily with her dagger, it wasn't because her combat was no good. It was because they weren't expecting it and she didn't have time to come up with a plan.

A gentle breeze rustled the tall, soft grass around them, she shuddered. Something was terribly wrong. A wind that gentle shouldn't feel so…ominous, but it did. Sitting up slowly Annabeth looked back at Percy. His eyes were closed and he seemed to be in a peaceful slumber, but she knew better. He'd eaten promngrate seeds from the underworld hadn't he?

"Someone help us!" She called out as a woman wearing a black evening dress slowly approached. She knelt beside the two teens and sighed deeply.

"I'm sorry, but that is not possible Ms. Chase. Your lover here ate the seeds remember?" The goddess eyed the blonde carefully. She opened her hand displayed a golden hologram, showing Percy shoving two of the seeds into his mouth.

"That's not fair Persephone! We've been down here for weeks…there is no food nor water." Annabeth began to hate the goddess that knelt beside her. The Underworld King and Queen were known to feast like…well gods. They were supposed to be assisting them on their quest but instead they were abusing the fresh meat in their stables.

"If you are hungry why not try the seeds, and to quench your thirst I am certain Styx will help you with that." Annabeth wanted to lunge at her and force Persephone to give her an atidote for the seeds.

" You are a cruel goddess…" She muttered beneath her breath. Persephone's black eyes seemed to glitter with amusement. A small smirk crept upon her face and soon her voice rang out in the cavern.

"I am a creul goddess? No, my dear sweet girl, there is nothing cruel about me. Just because I deal with the dead…that does not make me evil. If you wish to save this son of Poiseidon, I have a task for you."

The blonde's eyes glimmered with hope. A chance to save Percy? She had to take it. "Anything."

" Go to the palace of Poiseidon and take hold of the Cerulean gem, I wish to have it in my posession."

"That's all?"

"Yes…now go." She gave Annabeth a small glowing orb and smiled. "Good luck daughter of Athena."
