Band Family
Family- a group of people united by common affiliation if you really think about it, marching band is like a family.
Drum Major-Grandparent. They watch over you. They give you help and advice that no one else can give you.
Band Director- Parent. They are in charge. You have to listen to them. They are always there for you. They help you when you are down. They are always willing to listen to anything that you need to say.
Section leader- Older sibling. Always there for you when you're down, always there when you need your dumbest questions answered.
A Section- An Intermediate Family. Your all are always together.
The Band- your extended family
So if you look at it like this, the band is one big family. At times you may want to strangle other people, but at other times they can be your best friends. It may also be a dysfunctional family, but it always works itself out.
Every year you meet new people and make new friends. But you always remember the people who can no longer always be with the "family" they know and love. Every year Graduation is the hardest part of the year. But soon after, you meet new members of the ever growing family. But never forget the ones not there.
