Um. I don't know. Thought I'd put something up...sorry if it's bad. Having a bit of a dry spell...
the lovely ellipses
crash and burn, baby.
He's-back-he's back-he's back go the thump-thump-thump rhythms of her heart. The whisper whizzes through town in no time and Sakura runs with her feet flying off the ground to see if it's true. Right now her stomach is churning with a nasty mix of hope and dread-because she's too afraid of being broken down again to believe in silly little things like hope.
Because she doesn't want to change her perfect everyday routine of monotony and monochromes, but still a dying little part of her still wants to dream up happy endings. And so she runs like a deer, floating, speeding, leaping, her traitor heart beating wildly like a drum in her chest as her stomach drops into a mess of emotions dormant for so long, but alive once again.
He's-back-he's-back-he's-back, thumps her heart a little faster as she pushes through the crowd and fleetingly thinks of Naruto (because he brought him back, after all) and finally, is in the open and-
-she sees.
Black spiky hair, eyes of onyx, a face a little older since the last time she saw him (a face a little less murderous, she thinks bitterly, because damnit, it would've been nice to end this with a tragedy), drooping downwards.
Naruto spots her and begins to wave furiously, shouting, "SAKURA-CHAAAANNNN! LOOK WHO I FOUND!" He then proceeds to drag his best friend's bruised and battered body towards the medic, and Sakura can practically feel the eagerness radiating off of the blond boy, his aura screaming heal him, heal him, Sakura-chan! And Sakura's body moves of its own accord, as her feet pace themselves slowly towards her almost-brother and that person.
Upon Naruto's exclaimation, Uchiha Sasuke raises his head, and locks his slate-gray eyes with her vivid leaf-colored ones agonizingly slow.
Time seems to slow down, as scenes of benches and confessions and a hand wrapped around her throat begin to race through her mind, spiralling down, down, deeper, towards the growing bottomless pool in her stomach, she remembers-
how
could
you
-and Sasuke is aflame, in her mind, in her heart, and Sakura realizes she can't do this anymore.
So she stops, the world coming to a complete halt at her now-still feet. She watches everything in slow motion, how the overjoyed expression on Naruto's face slowly morphs into one of confusion, as he tries to comprehend the emotion in Sakura's eyes. She watches as Sasuke's orbs remain apathetic, black abysses and as his face remains blank, unreadable-she remembers that he has never cared.
Sakura smiles, an odd, calculating smile, turns on her heel, and walks away, the crowd and Naruto staring after her.
She feels his eyes burning into her back the moment she takes two steps away from him. The memories fast-forward haphazardly in her brain, her thoughts solely occupied by hurt and rage and a twisted mix of love and hate, but most of all, Sasuke. Endless, fathomless Sasuke and his beautiful bottomless eyes.
As she walks away, her heart starts thump-thump-thumping to a different tune.
Uchiha Sasuke may be beautiful, but Sakura decides she will enjoy watching him burn.
Erm. Should I continue? If so, review please? *offers muffin*
