Note: Code Geass is an anime that was done by the studio Sunrise.
A man, wearing a fancy business suit, pushed the photographers out of his way, and pranced to Zero, also known as Lelouch Lamperouge, and C. C. He said, "Greetings to you, Zero and C. C. I'm Marvin Tall, the biggest name in the advertising business."
Zero shook his hand and replied, "Nice to meet you."
Marvin Tall responded, "I just came back from hosting an employee's wedding, at my own house. It was a nice time, but the wind kept blowing stuff around."
C. C. replied, "The wind has risen."
Marvin said, "It sure has. Anyways, you have no idea what I'm referring to, but I'm sure you've heard of my long, wonderful career."
Zero and C. C. had only been in America for a month, so they only had a mild amount of knowledge about American trends, traditions, and legacies. Zero said, "C. C. and I are from Japan, so we don't know who you are."
One of the photographers said, "I've been in America, for my entire life, and I don't know who this guy is."
Marvin pushed the photographer away and said, "Ignore him. That was his only line in this story." He grabbed out a notepad and wrote down, that the two superheroes are Japanese. He said, "I'm an advertising agent. I've sponsored some really big celebrities. I've helped with a countless amount of film careers."
A different photographer asked, "Didn't you market that film company, that went bankrupt?"
Marvin pushed the photographer into the other photographers and said, "The point is that I want to be the one to market you two."
Zero asked, "Market us? What are you talking about?"
Marvin pointed to the two heroes and said, "You two have become quite the icons, around the city. However, like most superheroes, not much is known about you. We need to market you, your image, and what you believe in to the world. You have a country to inspire."
Zero thought about what Marvin was saying and he was starting to agree with it. He figured that if his and C. C.'s beliefs and morals, about justice and always doing the right thing, were presented to the public, they could inspire as many people as possible. He looked at Marvin and said, "That's a very interesting offer, sir. I can't promise anything, but I would be willing to hear out your suggestions." He looked at C. C. and asked, "What do you think, partner?"
C. C. put her hand on her chin and said, "Publicity can be annoying, but it can also be exciting. Well, I wouldn't mind hearing some suggestions."
Marvin replied, "I'm glad to hear that." He grabbed two business cards, out of his jacket, and placed them in Zero and C. C.'s hands. He said, "Give me a call, so we can schedule a meeting. I'm going to change your world and you're going to change America's world." He bumped into a bunch of bank customers and photographers, on his way out.
Meanwhile, Prince Schneizel about his bank henchmen getting defeated by Zero and C. C. He said, "That was the first I attempted to have that bank robbed, in months. How did those two know about it?"
Prince Schneizel's black haired, female secretary poured him a cup of his favorite tea, while saying, "Perhaps they happened to be in the right place, at the right time."
Prince Schneizel said, "Either that or those two have become too smart. If I'm going to get a robbery done, without their interference, I need to have my men do a subtle crime." He looked at his secretary and said, "Have a crew of henchmen rob Mr. Britannia's company."
The secretary replied, "But Mr. Britannia is your smallest competitor. He's considered to be the big zero of the business world."
Prince Schneizel said, "That's why Zero and his ninja buddy won't be there. Besides, having a small company robbed is better than not getting anything robbed." He paused and asked, "Any update on Suzaku?"
The secretary replied, "He's had less crimes to stop, thanks to Zero and C. C., mostly because of C. C. It seems like female empowerment is rising." Prince Schneizel angrily growled, while the secretary smirked.
The next morning, Lelouch Lamperouge and C. C. woke up and went to the living room. They both had a lot of different feelings about the idea of them being marketed superheroes. They sat on the couch and started talking about it. Lelouch looked at C. C. and said, "Although that Marvin Tall guy seems eccentric, he seems to have noble intentions. I believe that marketing our image and the kind of positivity, that we want to spread to the world, is a good thing."
C. C. replied, "I thought about that, but that could lead to paparazzi, internet rumors, trolls, and all kinds of antics."
Lelouch rubbed his partner's shoulder, while saying, "There's always going to be that kind of stuff. It's something that happens with all famous people, but it doesn't really matter. That nonsense can be ignored. What's important is that the people seeking a source of hope and those who need inspiration, get help, thanks to us. Superheroes are meant to be symbols of hope, to all kind of people. I believe we can do that."
C. C. replied, "I believe we can too, especially you."
Lelouch smiled at her and said, "Thank you. I think we should having a meeting with Marvin Tall, but I won't agree to it, without your approval."
C. C. replied, "Sounds good." She got out her cellphone and was about to call Marvin, but Lelouch pushed the phone to the ground. C. C. jokingly said, "I didn't know you were a hater of modern technology."
Lelouch replied, "We can't call Marvin on our phones."
C. C. had a confused look on her face, while asking, "Why not?"
Lelouch said, "If we did that, he'd know our phone number and could easily find out where we live."
C. C. replied, "Well if he's going to be our sponsoring dude, it seems like he should know that kind of stuff."
Lelouch shook his head and said, "Nobody in America can know who we are. Our mission is to make people know about our goals of spreading justice, but we don't want them to know who we really are."
C. C. replied, "Okay then, but I think you're a tad overprotective."
Lelouch held hands with C. C., while saying, "I'm overprotective, because I always want you to be safe."
C. C. replied, "You want us to be safe, yet you want us to be superheroes? Sounds counterintuitive."
Lelouch sighed and said, "You might be right about that."
C. chuckled and replied, "I was just kidding."
Lelouch sighed and said, "Don't do that."
C. C. jokingly replied, "Yes sir." Lelouch had long been annoyed by C. C. calling him sir, so he jokingly frowned. C. C. frowned back. The two continued making silly faces at each other, before smiling at each other and giving each other a big hug.
C. C. asked, "If we can't use our phone to call Marvin, how are we supposed to get in contact with him?"
Lelouch said, "I know how to take care of that problem." Lelouch and C. C. went to a nearby payphone and called Marvin. They scheduled a meeting with him, at noon, at his marketing building.
A few hours later, Lelouch and C. C. changed into their superhero costumes, and went into the market building that Marvin worked at. Zero and C. C. walked up to one of the secretaries. Zero asked, "Do you know which office Marvin Tall is in?"
The secretary said, "Room 50."
Zero and C. C. climbed up to the stairs. Several people were surprised to see the two heroes. The people that didn't know who they were were weirded out, but the people that had seen them were excited. They looked around the hallways, for several minutes, before finding Room 50.
The two heroes walked in. Marvin Tall turned around and said, "Greetings."
Zero replied, "Hi Mr. Tall. It's nice to see you again."
Marvin said, "I'm not used to hearing that, but I appreciate the sentiment."
Zero and C. C. looked around the office. It only had three chairs, a broken file cabinet, a fridge, and a desk that used to belong to a school. C. C. asked, "What's up with the lack of chairs?"
Marvin replied, "I'm not used to having more than one guest. I had to take the extra chair from one of my co-workers' offices. Sit down and we'll start business."
The two heroes sat down. C. C. said, "I'm thirsty."
Marvin replied, "There's plenty of sodas in my fridge. You can have one, for five dollars."
C. C. jumped up and asked, "Five dollars? Are you crazy? I could get a twelve pack for that price. I'm going to get a soda out of the vending machine." She stormed out of the office and went to the hallway's vending machine.
Zero was used to Ninja Lady embarrassing him in front of others. He looked at Marvin and said, "I'm sorry about that. She's a wonderful person, but she's infamous for getting distracted."
Marvin replied, "My teachers thought I had the same reputation."
A few minutes later, C. C. walked back in. Marvin asked, "Now, can we actually start business?"
C. C. casually said, "I guess."
Marvin got out a notebook and said, "So, what type of marketing are you girls thinking about?"
Zero replied, "Well, what we really want to market is our goals and wishes for the world. Let me explain. We want to promote doing the right thing and that justice can always be accomplished, no matter how gloomy and bleak things seem. We want people to have feelings of hope."
Marvin responded, "Very good. We'll put that type of stuff on the radio and t-shirts."
Zero said, "Suzaku has been marketing and presenting a darker type of image. He's been acting like eliminating people is okay, if it's bad guys, and that is not the right way to handle things. C. C. and I both agree that type of violence is never okay. Of course we have to beat up the bad guys, but destroying people is never the right answer. Sadly, Suzaku has had an impact on the media. Lots of cynical people and millennials act like he's a proper, good representation of justice, but deep down, he's an overly dramatic and violent vigilante." Marvin tried to stay awake, while he was talking. Zero said, "In fact, Suzaku has eliminated more people than the bad guys have. We can't have a anti-hero who has hurt more people than the bad guys."
Marvin replied, "Um, interesting points. Anyways, we need to move on to the real stuff."
Zero asked, "Real stuff?"
Marvin said, "Yes, the merchandise. We need to make as much merchandise of you two, as possible."
Zero asked, "Why?"
C. C. smirked and said, "Sounds like Marvin's a money lover."
Marvin replied, "Well, deep down, we're all money lovers. Some people see money as a necessary thing, for supporting their families and other loved ones. However, I see it as a lifestyle, the type of thing I value more than actual people."
Zero said, "Excuse me?"
Marvin nervously chuckled and replied, "I'm joking around."
C. C. smirked and responded, "Yeah right."
Zero looked at Marvin and asked, "What type of merchandise are you talking about?"
Marvin jumped out of his chair, with an excited look on his face. He walked around the office, while saying, "I've got a lot of ideas and I assure you, that they're the highest of quality."
C. C. replied, "Prove it."
Marvin asked, "Prove it? You have quite the personality. That'll help you marketing appeal." He ripped a page out of his notebook and said, "I made a list of stuff. First off, we need to make a TV show."
Zero had a confused look on her face, while asking, "A TV show?"
Marvin said, "Yes, TV shows based off of celebrities have become a big hit. However, it'll have to be animated, because your superpowers would be too costly to produce. We'll have your animated show on Saturday mornings and use that as an excuse for a toy line and a series of dolls. After that, we'll move on to t-shirts, Halloween costumes, stuffed animals, gummies, and soda commercials."
C. C. sipped a soda while saying, "The soda commercials seem like a nice idea."
Zero wasn't very fond of Marvin's marketing plan. He was hoping to have a series of commercials and other forms of messaging, that would acknowledge his and C. C.'s desire to make the world a more peaceful place. However, Marvin's primary concern seemed to be to make himself rich, by making people buy a buy of merchandise. Zero said, "Mr. Tall, I appreciate your offer for marketing our image, but I'm not so sure that you and I have the same goals."
Marvin asked, "What do you mean?"
Zero said, "Well, me and C. C.'s goal is to spread hope and optimism to as many people as possible. Would all this TV and doll stuff help?"
Marvin replied, "Well, it would promote how important it is to be successful in business."
Zero folded her arms and said, "I can't speak for C. C., but I don't think I can agree to your marketing deal."
Marvin had a confident look on his face, while saying, "I think I know how to change your opinion. TV show rights, toy sales, and all of that other stuff lead to a lot of dough."
C. C. asked, "Merchandise leads to dough? Sounds like a weird recipe."
Marvin replied, "No, you're misunderstanding me. We would make so much money."
C. C. looked interested, while asking, "How much?"
Marvin said, "You could make a million dollars." C. C. started getting excited.
Zero stood up and said, "Thank you for the offer, but I have no interest in it. Nice meeting with you." He started walking out of the office.
Marvin looked at C. C. and said, "Your partner doesn't seem to understand how great this offer is. I recommend agreeing to this deal."
C. C. put her hand on her chin and asked, "Can I have time to think it over?"
Marvin answered, "Sure."
Marvin's secretary walked in. She faced Marvin and said, "Mr. Kempster wants to see you. He's been doing a lot of screaming, so I'm expecting another unpleasant meeting."
Marvin sighed and replied, "I gotta go." He walked out of the office.
C. C. walked out of the office and ran up to Zero. She asked, "How could you not agree to that deal?"
Zero said, "It wouldn't of helped our goal."
C. C. replied, "But we would get so much money."
Zero said, "If we agree to this deal, because of the money, it could hurt our image. We're supposed to be promoting doing the right thing, even if it means no money reward. Mr. Tall didn't seem interested in selling products that would promote that. He just wants to make money, which is his own business and I can't judge, but it's not something I want to be a part of."
C. C. nervously replied, "I told him that I'd think about it. I hope you're not mad at me."
Zero gently touched C. C.'s shoulder and responded, "Of course not. We're equal partners, so you can always make your own decisions." C. C. smiled at him. She and Zero knew that justice was more important than making money and that being a hero was the richest feeling of them all.
