Disclaimer: It's in the profile. This is my original idea. Please do not be a thief. It's happened to almost all of my stories. Don't be an idea thief.

Note: This story is going to be slow, or at I'm going to try to make it so. This story will contain development of characters, romance, teen drama, and people teaching each other. Not what I usually write. There will also be tragedy, and real life problems.

Chapter 1

Necklace

Miroku trudged through the fall leaves scattered across the desolate bike path in the park, his eyes taking in none of the colors. He dragged his feet along the path, and rage boiled inside of him. He had been rejected from the college he had wished to go to again! He would have to go back to prep school another year! Oh how he hated that school.

"Why can't I be accepted? What do those other kids have that I don't? I passed my last exams!" Miroku said angrily, and then he blinked. Oh yeah, there was one thing those other kids had. Wealth. To him, his family was dirt poor.

"I need to find a job." Miroku said, and then sighed. He walked out of the park, into a small town.

"But where in the world am I going to get one of those?" Miroku said, exasperated, as he passed by two markets, advertising job offers.

"Get away from me!" A girl screamed as she stumbled through a dark hallway, chased by a dark shadow. She looked no older then 17. Her hair was long and following, and shining white. Her eyes were green, and vibrant. She was wearing a pink, white and green kimono. Her neck shone radiantly though beneath her hand that was trying vainly to conceal the shining object. Her wooden sandals made a click-clack sound as she ran through the hallway.

"Why do you want me? My father's the one whom carries it!" The girl yelled. The shadow lurked ever nearer, and suddenly appeared in front of the girl, and grabbed her wrist. The girl screamed, and the object's light began to shine brighter as it floated, suspended in mid-air. It was a necklace, made simply from dried white roses and green pieces of coral...

"Give it to me…" The shadow hissed, and a red glow emitted suddenly from where its eyes should've been. The floor began to swirl with black mist, and shadows began to curl around the girl's legs.

"Never!" The girl screamed, just as everything became obscured by white light.

Author's Ramblings: Yeah, I know it's sort of weird. But everything will be cleared up in time. The necklace is an important part of this story, as well as the "shadows" that had attempted to get the simple necklace. Everything will be told if this story continues.
